Spring

Upon browsing recent photos posted by Japanese members whom I’m following on Instagram, Spring seems to have arrived in Japan. Although I travel to Japan quite often in the past, most of the trips were during Summer or Winter. Only twice did I arrive in Japan during Spring.

The symbol of Spring in Japan has always been the cherry blossoms, also known as sakura. I remember it was a beautiful sight when I saw it for the first time, especially on a clear and sunny day accompanied by the cool Spring weather.

Places I have visited to view the cherry blossoms are Nara Deer Park, Osaka Castle and Philosopher’s Path in Kyoto. Every trip was enjoyable and left wonderful memories for me. Living in Singapore does not have the blessing to admire these blossoms which one can see from the streets in the city to paths alongside nature.

Here are some selected photos which I have taken during my vacations in 2012 and 2014.

Now must be a good time to enjoy hanami to welcome a new season. If opportunity allows, I would love to capture photos of this beautiful season with my camera again.

Happy cherry blossoms viewing in Japan!
