Working as an interpreter in China

I still remember my work as an interpreter in China.
I accompanied the person who is in charge of the quality audit to interpret what he needed to explain.

To tell the truth, I was not familiar with the things that are related qualities, so I tried to get the meeting materials in Japanese and read them over and over again very carefully.

Unfortunately, I didn't even know the backgroud knowledge about the quality issues we had at that time. Therefore, I asked the staff who communicate with the factory in China to give me advice about the issues. I tried to memorize the related technical words in English.

For example, if a word "porosity" is translated into Japanese, it will have several Japanese translations. In case it is used for the explanation of castings, the meaning will be "鋳巣" in Japanese, which will badly affect the qualities of products.

At the same time, I asked the staff in the facory to teach me about the technical things (castings, machines, etc...), which was a good opportunity to learn new things.

Actually, interpreting what he said was very tough and I was not sure if I could do well during the meeting, however the meeting itself was smooth.

After this business trip, I was schduled to visit the factory in China again as an interpreter and supporting the quality check there..
