“現在とは、未来と過去の間の、とても短い一瞬のことです。つまり私たちは皆、基本的に何らかの端の上に生きているのです。生と死の間、そして理想と現実の間に。”

社会的な存在としてのわたしたちは、たいてい何かと何かの間に挟まれて生きている。関係性の間であれば「自宅と職場」、「上司と部下の間。概念であれば「日常と非日常」や「20代と40代」。物理的な間はこうだろうか。「ファとレ」や「西荻窪と三鷹」の間といったような。
間にいると社会的、政治的な、あるいは個人的な嗜好によって時に引き裂かれたり、時に偏ったりする。一方、厄介なことばかりではなく、自分の立ち位置を定めたり、明らかにしてくれたりもする。あるいは「どっちつかず」でいることによって、見えてくるものだってある。
わたしは六次産業の担い手として「生産者と生活者の間」を、牧場の現場と小売の現場の橋渡しのため「牧場と都市の間」を往復している。ここで更に「後継者」というタグがつけば「過去と未来の間」を繋ぐ役割を担うわけだ。
安易な二項対立を超えたグラデーションがここにはある。わたしは、この3つの「間 (あわい)」を意識的に生きることで、自分にしかできない仕事ができるような気がしている。
この「越境人材」を育てることが、サイボクの果たすべき役割でもある。

Vol.2: In between | あわい
“I think the present is one very short instant between the future and the past. So basically all of us are leaving on the edge of something, between life and death, and between the ideal and the reality.”
As social beings, we are usually caught between something and something else. This is based on my own experience. If it is between relationships, it will be 'home and work', 'boss and subordinate. If it is a concept, it could be 'everyday and extraordinary' or '20s and 40s'. It could be between 'F and D' or 'Nishiogikubo and Mitaka' for physical interactions.
In between, they are sometimes torn apart and sometimes polarised by social, political or personal tastes and preferences. But on the other hand, it could define and clarify one's position. Or, by being on one side or the other, you can also see things.
As a bearer of the sixth industry, I positionally
go back and forth between producers and consumers. Locationally between the farm and the city. If the tag 'third-generation successor' is added here, I'm a person who connects the past and the future.
There is a gradation here that goes beyond easy dichotomies. I can work only by consciously living between these three 'awai'.
The role of SAIBOKU is to nurture these cross-border human resources.
