Why not Ushida? His performance in 2nd stage was so touching

I can not understand. Why doesn't Mr. Ushida advance to the next stage? He played great. I was convinced that Mr. Ushida would advance to the final stage. Is there a fair examination? I'm full of distrust.

m quite shocked that Mr.Ushida didn't pass, but kind of relieved to see that many people here, regardless of their nationality, feel the same as I do. This competition DID help to make him more famous and popular!
Hope he will be able to have many recitals around the world!

I can’t believe Tomoharu Ushida was eliminated. His was really facing Chopin’s music seriously. I hope piano fans around the world find him in this competition and support him. By the way, I’m glad to hear some great pianist goes to 3rd stage, Leonora Armellini, Kyohei Sorita, Su Yeon Kim.

Mr Ushida is the pianist who definitely should go to semi final. His performance was outstanding, touching, sophisticated and having own philosophy for Chopin. Who could imagine he was not there....really disappointed and huge unfortunate..:(

Why did Mr. Ushida not chosen? He played very well.
There are a few other people who seem to have made a lot of mistakes and weren't very good at it. He wants to disclose the score.
I think Mr. Ushida should make an additional third appearance.
If not, the reason should be announced to the world.

I can't believe Mr.Ushida is out!!!
I was moved by his performance.
There were no mistakes in his performance, and I think he played Chopin more delicately than anyone else. His performance was soulful.
So,I’m not convinced with judgement.

牛田くんの演奏ほど魂に響いて感動したピアニストはいませんでした✨✨
結果に納得はいきませんが、彼は世界中の人たちに夢と希望を与えてくれました。これからずっと応援していきます!!
本当にありがとうございました

I understand why many Mr Ushida’s supporters disappoint with the result. Mr Ushida is a very talented pianist for sure. However, I am very upset that some supporters blame Mr Ushida’s out on another contestant. It is so mean. I hope everyone will respect all the contestants and cheer them on for the next stage.

loved Ushida and really thought he was going to be in the Finals. But i think i can guess the reason he didnt make it; throughout his whole performance he was great but it all sounded like something i heard before. Something splendid of course, but something not original and that didnt bring anything new. Those who watch the competition for more than 15 years, will have probably noticed a rather obvious and extensive similarity to Blechacz's performance. Especially in the Polonaise even the length of the pause and the rubato was more than 90% identical. I think the jury saw behind that and those who are new viewers do not have the reference points to compare such a splendid performance. It is great to borrow some traits from other famous pianists, but do it too much and you may sound to a strict jury like you dont have anything to offer yourself and you are copying. Still, although i wouldnt give him a prize, I think that he was well deserved to go to third stage at least.
Or at least that's my opinion, hope it sheds a bit of light to the confusion.

Ushida's Chopin performances really moved and inspired me. I don't want to complain but he should have not been eliminated. Anyways, all the best to the semi-finalists. I will move in appreciation of getting to discover Ushida through this competition.

I'm utterly shocked and could not believe my ears that TOMOHARU USHIDA's name is not on the list. Why??? From his performance at Stage II, it is self-evident that he well deserves Stage III. His depthful study of Chopin's music and respect for Chopin are incomparable! I am so disappointed to find that the Chopin Competition that I have been following for many years is no longer there.

I do not understand why Tomoharu Ushida did not pass to the 3rd stage. I wonder if the judges would provide any explanation for their decision

Ushida's performances in the first two stages were some of the most expressive and technically brilliant I've ever heard of Chopin. It does seem like a glaring mistake that he wasn't chosen for the 3rd stage. Certainly no disrespect to all the others who performed, selected or not. There have been many excellent performers. Such is the nature of music competitions, which are inevitably at odds with the very purpose of the music to begin with. In any case, I'd never heard of Ushida before now so I'm grateful for the chance to hear his performances in such high quality video and audio. I look forward hearing more of his work in the years to come.

I can't believe why Tomoharu Ushida isn't here. No other performer was so inspiring. This result makes me wonder if something is happening behind the scenes. I also learned that the piano cannot be passed without choosing Steinway. I'm disappointed.
