ジャパニーズモダンといわれている青森県産のプロダクト、
ブナコについてです。

ブナは北欧では『森の聖母』と呼ばれています。
ブナはそもそも加工がしにくく、狂いが大きいというデメリットがあり、
ものづくりをするときに選ばれることは少なかったそうです。

けれども、その特徴を活かせる革新的な技術が生まれたことでさまざまなプロダクトが生まれてきました。

ブナコは厚さ１ミリのテープ状のブナ材を使い、それをコイル状にすることでかたちになります。

また、ブナコは資源を大切にした無駄のない木工品です。
ハンドメイドで作られるため、大量生産ができません。
見た目にもブナコは無駄をみせませんが、手を感じます。

そんな木と人の知恵から生まれたブナコは1956年から続いています。

職人さんのさじ加減で生じていくかたち。
自分の目の前にお気に入りが現れると、うれしさを感じます。

長い冬を過ごす場所から、たくさんの人にブナコからのあたたかさが届くといいです。
