俗に言う"The Cure 暗黒三部作"の１つである名盤「Disintegration」のオープニングを飾る１曲、まさにこの世の終わりのようなダークで荘厳なシンセサウンドが一気にアルバムの世界観に引き込みます。
ここに登場する"You"は非常に危うげで退廃的な雰囲気を纏っていながら、なにか吸い寄せられてしまうような、不思議な魅力を感じる存在です。きっと(おどろおどろしいジャケットの)本アルバムに手が伸びるような人々にとってはシンパシーを擽る存在だと思います。
(ここからは個人的な所感でしかないですが)
"You"はきっと孤独感・厭世観といった負の感情そのものなんだと思います。"マイナスに感傷的になる"ことは苦しいことで、まるで世界の果てにいるような気分になりますが、なぜかずっと浸ってしまって抜け出せなくなることも事実ですから。
