夏に作っていた円形ショール・月夜見ショールは、先日、無事にRavelryでリリースできました。

さて、今回、円形ショールを編む少し前から、サーキュラーヨークと呼ばれる、首周りからバストまでを円形で形作っていくタイプのプルオーバーの構造について考えていました。
まずはKaya Teeという夏用のTeeになったのですが...

サーキュラーヨークと円形ショール。
そのどちらも円形をベースにしている、ということは･･････
円形ショールの中心部分に頭を通せるように穴を開け、途中の肩線より少し先のあたりに2箇所、腕を出せる場所を開けたら、アームホールつきのポンチョを作れるのでは？ と、自分の円形ショールのデザインをはじめる前から少し考えていました。
今回、それを実現させて、月夜見ショールのパターンの最後に、オプションとしてつけることにしました。

ポンチョのオプションもつけようと考えはじめてから...

・首がつまると着ていて苦しいから、ちょっと前後差があったらいいよね。
・大きなサイズも海外向けにあった方が良いから、アームホールの位置を変えて2サイズ展開にしようかな？
・袖の切り込みはちょっと前身頃側にある方が、腕の可動域的に良いだろうな〜
・大きいサイズは、ちょっと丈も伸ばせるようにしておこう。
・ショールの指定糸はFingering weight (中細)だけど、袖の切り込みは単に真横に一直線に入れるから、太さがある糸よりも細いレース糸の方が、脇がもたつかないで着やすいかもなあ。
・首周りと袖は、ダレるといけないから、最後にかぎ針で引き抜き編みをした方が良い感じかも。などなど...

そんなことを考えて(じつはそういうことを考えている時がいちばん楽しいとも言えるのですが)、オプションのレースのポンチョができました。

そして今、円形ショールの編み始めを利用して作った帽子のテストニットをしています。

ひとつのことから様々に展開できるのも編みものの醍醐味だなあとつくづく思う、今年の流れって感じなのでしたよ。

If you cut a hole in the center of the circular shawl so that you can put your head through it, and then cut two places in the middle of the shawl where you can put your arms out, a little beyond the shoulder line, you could make a poncho with armholes, couldn't you? I had been thinking about this before I started designing my own circular shawl. This time, I decided to make it a reality and add it as an option at the end of the pattern for TsukiYomi pattern.

Since I started thinking about adding a poncho option... I think it would be better if there was a little difference between the front and back, because it would be hard to wear if the neck is pinched. I think it would be better to have a larger size for overseas, so maybe we should change the position of the armhole and make it available in two sizes. The sleeve cutouts should be a little bit on the front side for better range of motion of the arms. The specified yarn for the shawl is a fingering weight, but since the sleeve cutouts will simply be made in a straight line across, a thin lace yarn might be easier to wear than a thick yarn, so that the sides don't lean. I think it might be better to crochet around the neck and sleeves at the end, because I don't want the sleeves to be loose. And so on... Thinking about these things (in fact, it can be said that thinking about such things is the most enjoyable part of the process), the optional lace poncho was completed.

And test knitting now a hat I made using the beginning of TsukiYomi shawl. I really think that the best part of knitting is that it can be developed from one thing into many different things, which I feel is my trend of this year.
