ジョニ・ミチェル (1943- ) の1972年2月23日のニューヨーク Carnegie Hall 公演 (下)をサウンドボード(mixer)由来の音源で聴く機会があった (FLAC, 約850kHz/44.1kHz, stereo)。

アルバム 'Blue' (1971年6月) と'For the Roses' (1972年11月) との間にあたる時期の公演で、後者で発表されることになる曲 'For the Roses' を9ヶ月前にソロで聴けるのは興味深い。

声の音質は概していい。楽器はさすがサウンドボードで、よく捉えられており、迫力がある。どちらも、レベルが過飽和ぎみになるところもある。

ジョニのギターやダルシマーは圧倒的。ピアノも力強い。いつも思うけれど、ジョニは伴奏者なしでも一人で完璧な世界を作り上げている。

ジョニのステージでの話しぶりは幸せそうで、聴いていて楽しくなる。

歌の声の伸びや張りはすばらしい。声が裏返るところはない(と思う)。

天才にしか生み出し得ない歌 'All I Want', 'A Case of You', 'Carey' などには息を呑む。音楽を聴いていて至福を味わうのはこういうときだ。

万人に薦められるかは分らないが、ジョニのファンなら 一聴 の価値があると思う。あまりにいいので、もう二回通して聴いた。
