Ⅴ 日本文化の英語解説 4

4 Tsuyu:梅雨(the rainy season ):

*Tsuyu is 'the wet, rainy season’. We have four seasons in Japan. It is spring now and soon summer will come. But at the end of spring, the rainy season begins in June. It lasts one or two months. After the rainy season, the very hot and humid summer starts at the end of July. So Japan has five seasons. It ripens ’Ume’(the Japanese apricot plant which blooms at the start of spring). Plum blossoms come out in March.  Plums are the basis of pickled plums(”Ume-boshi”).
*(梅雨入り:the beginning of wet, rainy season)
