Ⅴ 日本文化の英語解説 1     

1 Shi-ki:四季(Four seasons in Japan)and Hana-mi:花見(Cherry blossom viewing)

*We have four seasons; spring (Haru), summer (Natsu), fall/autumn (Aki), and winter (Fuyu) in Japan. An old Japanese word for spring is Sakura-Doki, or “cherry blossom time.”(春の桜)
*We can enjoy cherry blossom viewing (hanami: flower viewing) and enjoying sake and dumplings at hanami (flower viewing) parties in spring. There is a proverb 「花より団子」 which means “Dumplings rather than flowers.” Japanese dumplings are called "Dango" in Japanese. There are various flavors in Japan, For example, Goma (Black sesame), Zunda (Green soybeans), Anko (Bean paste), Mitarashi (sweet soy glaze).
