8 Fu(ー)rin: 風鈴(A wind chime):


Fu(ー)rin is a wind chime made of metal, porcelain, or glass. It is often hung under the eaves of a house in summer. The ringing of Fu(ー)rin makes people feel cool and refreshed, not only because of the breeze that makes it ring but also due to its clear tone. Fu(ー)rin was imported from China along with Buddhism, a long time ago. ‘Furin’is a different word which means adultery, unnatural love affair. Be careful to pronounce a long vowel.
