突然一枚のハガキが届きまして、そこには

You have been summoned to appear as a TRIAL JUROR

と書いてあります。
ん？とおもって中をよく読んでみると三ヶ月先の日付と裁判所の住所が書いてあり、来いとのこと。
陪審員に指名されたようです。

えっ、どうしよう…とうろたえた訳ですが、博士は面白いから行ってこいといいます。
ひとまずオンラインでこの召集令状にレスしないといけないようなので
MAjuryのサイトにハガキの情報を入力してログイン。
すぐにQUALIFIEか NOT QUALIFIEDかを選ばされます。
サイトによれば次の項目を一つでも満たせばdisqualifiedされるとのこと。
1. I am not a US Citizen.
2. I am 70 years of age or older, and I choose not to serve.
3. I am under the age of 18.
4. I cannot speak and understand English.
5. I have moved permanently outside of the county.
6. I am living full-time outside of the county and will not return for more than one year.
7. I have been convicted of a felony within the past 7 years, or I am currently charged with a felony, or I am currently in custody.
8. I have reported to court for jury duty within the last three years, or I am currently scheduled for state or federal jury duty.
9. I currently have a physical or mental disability that prevents me from performing jury duty [doctor’s certification required].
10. I am the primary caregiver for a permanently disabled person who is a member of my household [doctor’s certification required].

ということで1番でいきなり駄目ですね。
4番でもいいですが…

ですので行く必要ないと言うか陪審員になれませんでした。
