ロシアの黒海の近くに、ぽつんと小さい針葉樹林の森がある。
小さいといっても周囲は10キロほどあり、その黒い森とは対象的に真っ青な湖がひとつ。様々な動物が暮らす森だった。

その森には３匹の熊の兄弟が住んでいた。しかし、その中の１匹、３女のナタリーだけはとても小さな熊だった。

小さいために様々な動物達からからかわれていたが、長男コーシャ、次男トーシャと仲睦まじく暮らしていた。
ナタリーは花が大好きで聡明な熊だった。そんな愛すべき妹を、大きなコーシャと大きなトーシャは、「お前は小さいけれど、誰よりも大きな「知恵」を持っている」と誉め立てていた。ナタリーも、優しくて力強い二人の兄が大好きだった。
