絶えず新しくリリースするムックは、非常にアクティブなバンドです。これまでのところ、15枚のアルバム、41枚のシングル、3枚のEP、1枚のカバーアルバム、8枚のコンピレーションアルバム、3枚の再録音されたアルバム、加えていくつかのライブアルバムをリリースしました。20年以上の経験を積み、音楽へ身を捧げていると言っても過言ではないでしょう。

新型コロナウイルス感染症の流行の影響により延期となった最新アルバム、「惡」、は2020年６月10日にリリースされました。延期にもかかわらず、オリコン週間アルバムチャートで初登場6位になりました。

いつものように、1枚のアルバムに収められたジャンルは多岐にわたります。今作はそのオリジナル「Mucc」の特徴的なサウンドから逸脱することなく、グランジやメタルコア、エレクトロニックロック、ダンスロック、ロカビリーなどをアルバム「惡」に含めています。最近は強く取り入れられているピアノの存在感の上に、ホーンやストリングズがアルバム全体に散りばめられています。

「惡」は今まで出た中で最も長い作品であるにも関わらず、最近のアルバムと比べるとペースが割と速いしエネルギッシュです。4月27日youtubeでリリースされ、最近ファンのお気に入りになった一曲「惡 -JUSTICE-」で始まリます。
そして後に続く15トラックは、ムックの創造性溢れる作曲と音楽の才能を遺憾無く発揮し続けています。曲の中で目立つのは「アメリア (惡 MIX)」や「Friday the 13th」、「SANDMAN」、「自己嫌惡」と「アルファ」。僕は一番好きなのは、断然「目眩」です。lynch.の葉月のデスボイスが素晴らしいし、曲の後半はSystem Of A Downの影響が色濃く感じられます。本当に最高な曲です！

もし「久しびりにムックのアルバム聴いてないなあ」っていう人がいたら、おすすめです。聴きやすいだけではなくて、とてもいいアルバムです。昔のムックの方が好きなファンでも「惡」は気にいると思います。それと、もちろん初めての方も是非聞いてください！

Mucc is a very active band with constant new releases. So far, they have recorded 15 albums, 41 singles, 3 EPs, 1 cover album, 8 compilation albums, 3 rerecorded albums, and a few live albums. With so much under their belt, their dedication to music cannot be overstated.

Their latest album, 惡 (Aku), was relseased on 2020 June 10th, after being postponed due to COVID-19. Even with the wait, it still manage to secure 6th place on the Oricon charts.

As usual, Mucc incorporates various genres such as grunge, metalcore, electronic rock, dance rock, and rockabilly, without straying from their original core "Mucc" sound. In addition to the strong piano presence, which they have been frequently incorporated as of late, there is a noticeable amount of horns and strings littered throughout the album as well.

Regardless of the fact that 惡 is in fact their longest album to date, in comparrison to recent albums, it feels slightly more eneregetic and fastpaced. It starts off strong with the new fan favorite, 「惡 -JUSTICE-」, which was previously released on April 27th as a music video. The procession of the 15 following tracks continues to show off Mucc's musical talents and creative songwriting. Some stand outs for me would be 「アメリア (惡 MIX)」, 「Friday the 13th」, 「SANDMAN」, 「自己嫌惡」, and 「アルファ」. My absolute favorite, though, is defintely 「目眩」. Not only does it feature Hazuki of lynch and his death growl, but the second half of the song reeks of System Of A Down influence.

If it's been a while since you've picked up a Mucc album, I highly recommend 惡. It is easy to listen to, but great music nonetheless! Even for those fans who are more into their rawer early stuff will probably find this album attractive. And of course, new listeners should also check it out. Definitely give it a listen!
