山形の酒田から車で40分ほどの鶴岡市に松ヶ岡という場所がある。明治時代に武士が荒地を開墾し、養蚕場をつくった場所だ。現在は当時の建物を利用したギャラリーや陶芸の場となっている。数年前にこの地に「令和の開墾」と称してブドウ畑とワイナリーが作られた。一面のブドウ畑を見渡せるレストランも心地よい。開発というと都会にあるような商業施設を作ることが多い中、コンクリートではなく、緑が増える開発っていいなぁ。（絵と文：サカキテツ朗）

There is a place called Matsugaoka in Tsuruoka City, which is about 40 minutes by car from Sakata in Yamagata. It is a place where samurai reclaimed wasteland and created a sericulture farm in the Meiji era. Today, it is a gallery and a place for ceramics that used the building of that time. A few years ago, a vineyard and a winery were built here under the name of "Reiwa reclamation". The restaurant overlooking the vineyards is also comfortable. When it comes to development, we often build commercial facilities that look like they are in the city, so it would be nice to make it green, not concrete. -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
