One of her teachers was Abram Chasins. She won the Naumburg Piano Competition in 1943. In 1946, she stood in for Vladimir Horowitz when he was unavailable for a concert, and she claimed she was the only female pianist ever to have been given this honor.In 1949 she married Chasins, who died in 1987. They performed and recorded music for a piano duo. She later became a teacher herself. Her pupils included the children of Arthur Rubinstein, who said he was "flabbergasted by the color, sweep and imagination and ... incredible technique. I cannot imagine anybody, including Rachmaninoff, playing the piano so beautifully".For many years, she was on the piano faculty of the Manhattan School of Music, and was a member of its Board of Trustees. In the fourth series, the middle of the series, a romantic era by young Elly Ney, focusing on the performance of the piano works of teacher Leschetizky by Grace Potter Carroll, Frank Merrick and Marie Novello From the 1910s to the early 1960s, the recording of the German homocode by Virtuoso Josef Schwarz from Russia, and Pathé vertical discs of Ethel Leginska, who also helped improve the status of female musicians. A lot of performances were recorded. This series will be the culmination of Leschetizky research consisting of five anthology CDs and several CDs of each pianist.Volume One include 9 pianists born from 1830 to 1875.Along with Franz Liszt, Theodor Leschetizky (1830-1915) was one of the most influential teachers in the history of piano performance.In this long-awaited new series, we will reissue historical recordings by his student pianists in an anthology of five CDs and a solo CD by each pianist, making this the culmination of our research on Leschetizky.The first volume contains performances by nine legendary pianists born between 1830 and 1875 (many of which have never been published or reissued before). Princess Marie-Antoinette Aussenac de Broglie (20 July 1883 - 31 October 1971)The great Portuguese pianist Marie-Antoinette Aussenac de Broglie, whom Lisbon has applauded, was born in Porto and studied at the Paris Conservatory, later going to Berlin, where she took lessons with Jose Vianna da Motta (a pupil of Franz Liszt). Along with the greatest concert performers of today, she has been applauded by audiences in Paris, London, Berlin, Anvers, Brunswick and other cities. She is a pianist of remarkable value and of marked personality. Today, she is remembered by playing the work of Russian Avant-Garde composer Nikolai Obukhov on an electronic musical instrument like the Theremin called "La Croix Sonore". Her performance of Obukhov's music was recorded at 78 rpm on the Pathé label, but romantic piano music is left only on the 2 Duo-Art piano rolls(Glazounov’s Grande Valse de Concert, Op.41 & Rachmaninoff’s Polka de V.R.) and this Chopin Recital album. Her playing Chopin interpretation are based on the tradition of 19th century Romantic French pianism, which is common to performances such as Francois Planté, Henri Etlin, Marie Panthés and Victor Gille. Panthès, Marie (3 Nobember 1871 - 11 March 1955)Panthès was born in Odessa (Russian Empire) of French parents. She studied the piano at the Conservatoire de Paris in an upper grade class, then with Alexis-Henri Fissot(1843-1896) and Louise-Aglaé Massart-Masson where she won first prize at the age of 14. In 1897, she toured with the violinist Alexandre Petschnikoff and became famous thanks to numerous European tours.In 1904, she began teaching at the Conservatoire de musique de Genève. She then left this post in 1917 because of differences of opinion with the conservatory committee. She moved with her violinist husband, Maurice Darier, to Lausanne.She returned to Geneva in 1931 and taught for twenty years at the Conservatoire de musique de Genève.In 1951, she said she stopped because she suffered from a melanoma in her head. In 1954, she began treatment with a cancer specialist in New York, Dr. Revici.She died there on 11 March 1955 at the age of 83. Her grave is located at Cimetière des Rois in Geneva. Among her notable students were Julien-François Zbinden, Johnny Aubert, Isabelle Nef and Marguerite Roesgen-Champion.The original LP for the 10th anniversary of the death of Marie Panthès († March 11, 1955) this souvenir disc was prepared by a group of friends of the great deceased pianist, in collaboration with the Geneva Studio of Swiss Broadcasting. "Marie-Thérèse Fourneau ~ French Columbia Complete 78rpm recordings"French pianist Marie-Thérèse Fourneau was born in 1927. She studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Marguerite Long, Joseph Calvet and Jean Doyen, graduating with the Premier Prix de Piano in 1942. In 1943 she received second place to Samson François’s first prize at the International Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition. In 1946 she won first prize at the Concours international de virtuosité de Genève. In 1947, she received a Grand prix du Disque. Her brilliant international career was cut short by multiple sclerosis. She died at the Hospital de Saint-Mandé (in Val-de-Marne, France) at the age of 73 on 11 May 2000.Track list : M. Ravel01. Alexander Borovsky plays Liszt : 12 Transcendental EtudesAlexander Borovsky (Aleksandr Kirilovich Borovski) (Borowsky) (March 8, 1889 - April 27, 1968)was born in Mitau, Latvia. His first teacher was his mother, a pupil of Vasili Safonov, the great Russian pianist. Later on he studied under Anna Essipova, the pupil and wife of Leschetitzky. Other her pupils included Leonid Kreutzer, Simon Barere, Sergei Prokofiev, Alfred Mirovitch, Igance Hilsberg, and Lev Pouishnov. Borovsky completed his studies at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1912 with a gold medal and the Anton Rubinstein prize. In 1915 he was invited to lead a master class at the Moscow Conservatory. After leaving Russia in 1920, Borovsky embarked on a series of concert tours, which took him to all parts of the globe. At the same time he began to record some of the significant works of Bach and Liszt, and he was the first to record Bach's 30 Inventions and all of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies.Borovsky settled in this country in 1941. On his concert tours he played under many famous conductors, such as Serge Koussevitzky, Bruno Walter, Wilhelm Furtwaengler, Sir Henry Wood, Paul Paray, Vladimir Golschman, Pierre Monteux, Erich Kleiber, John Barbirolli and others. Weiss, Edward (George )(b New York, Sept 6, 1892; d New York, Sept 28, 1984). American pianist . Born into a musical German-Nordic family, he grew up in Europe and studied in Berlin with Alexander Rihm and Xaver Scharwenka, through whom he was introduced to Busoni. He began to study with Busoni in 1914, following him to the USA in 1915 and returning with him to Europe, first to Zürich and then back to Berlin at the end of World War I.In 1921 he made his début with the Berlin PO under Busoni's baton. During his time in Berlin, in addition to giving masterclasses at the Klindworth-Scharwenka Conservatory, Weiss performed a large repertory, including the 32 Beethoven sonatas; the scale of his programmes, such as the complete études and preludes of Chopin or the entire Années de pèlerinage of Liszt in a single evening, reflected the monumental style of his mentor. LISZT : WALDESRAUSCHEN (Forest Murmurs) Format : MONO Audio CD, 4P paper sleeveMastering: Hisao Natsume, DSD transfer, 32bit192kHz Re-masteringTOTAL TIME : 42'58"エドワード・ヴァイス(1892-1984)はドイツと北欧の音楽家に生まれ、ヨーロッパで育ち、ベルリンでAlexander RihmとXaver Scharwenkaに師事し、ブゾーニに紹介されました。 1914年にブゾーニに師事し始め、1915年にアメリカへ渡り、第一次世界大戦後には最初はチューリッヒへ、その後ベルリンへ戻りました。1921年には、ブゾーニ指揮、ベルリンフィルハーモニー管弦楽団で、バッハの「ニ短調」、ブゾーニ「インドの日記」、モーツァルトの「ハ長調」の、3つ協奏曲を演奏してデビューを果たします。 ベルリン滞在中にはクリントヴォルト＝シャルウェンカ音楽院でマスタークラスを受け持ち、ベートーヴェンの32のソナタ全曲を含む大規模なレパートリーを演奏しました。その他、ショパンのエチュード全曲集、24の前奏曲集、リスト「巡礼の年」全曲など、ヴァイスのプログラムは師匠ブゾーニの記念碑的なスタイルを反映していました。 その後ニューヨークに戻り、そこで長年教えながら演奏活動を続けました。ヴァイスはレコードをあまり残さなかったピアニストで、SP盤では独VOX、CIRCLというレーベルにブゾーニ作品を数曲、未発売のアセテート録音にはリストやシベリウスなどの作品が残されています。本アルバムは、1950年代にアメリカで録音されたモノラル・レコードからの復刻であり、幅広いプログラムを知る貴重な音源となっています。【収録トラック】01. ショパン：練習曲 ハ短調 Op.25-1202. ブラームス：二つのワルツ Op.39-16 & 1503. ウェーバー：常動曲 〜ソナタ ハ長調 Op.2404.
