あっという間に3月。ひな祭りの時期です。

Hina matsuri, or Doll Festival, is held every March 3 to pray for girls' happiness and good health.
ひな祭りは女の子の幸せと健康を祈って、毎年3月3日に行われます。

Hina dolls in Heian period costumes are displayed at homes and sometimes in public spaces, too.
平安時代の装束をまとったひな人形が家庭や時には公的な場所にも飾られます。

People enjoy viewing them.
みんなそのひな人形を楽しんでみています。

On March 3, some families eat chirashi-zushi, or colorful mixed sushi rice.
3月3日に、家族でちらしずしを食べる方々もいます。

Shizuoka is a big production site of Hina dolls.
静岡はひな人形の一大産地です。

The origin of Shizuoka's Hina doll industry can be traced back to the beginning of Edo period when many skilled artisans settled in Sumpu to work in the expansion of the Sengen and Toshogu Shrines.
静岡のひな人形産業は、浅間神社や東照宮を拡張した時に多くの腕のある職人が駿府に定住したことから始まります。

Some of those artisans utilized their special techniques to create Hina dolls.

They are unique life-size Hina dolls that are exhibited in Kashibaya, a history museum in Fujieda city.
