NHK大河ドラマ「どうする家康」、本当に面白かったですよね。（力強く同意を求めております！）

その家康公が駿府に移られたのは1607年（慶長12年）7月3日。駿府城が完成した時でした。その2年前1605年4月に家康公は秀忠公に将軍職を譲っています。1603年2月に征夷大将軍となってから在位わずか2年でした。家康公が継承を早くなさりたかった理由を経緯を見ながら考えてみます。

なぜ家康公はたったの2年で将軍を引退したのか？パート１

On January 9, 1605, Lord　Tokugawa Ieyasu left Edo for Kyoto taking many daimyo along the Tokaido Route.

1605年1月9日、徳川家康公は東海道沿いの多くの大名を引き連れ、上洛の途につきました。

He entered the Fushimi Castle on February 19 and received noblemen and feudal lords as the audience there.

伏見城に2月19日に入り、公家衆や大名たちを引見しました。

After Lord Tokugawa Ieyasu, Lord Hidetada reached the castle on March 21.

家康公の後、秀忠公は3月21日に伏見城に到着しました。

They petitioned Ieyasu’s retirement and Hidetada’s enthronement on Shogun for the Imperial court on April 7.

4月7日に彼らは家康の引退と秀忠の将軍就任を朝廷に奏請（そうせい）しました。

※奏請……天子に申し上げて許しを求めること。そうしょう。（明鏡国語辞典より）

Senji(Imperial Decree) was announced on April 16 and the formal procedure for Lord Hidetada's succession as the second Shogun was completed.

宣旨(せんじ・天皇のお言葉)が4月16日に下り、秀忠公が二代将軍となる継承の手続きは完了しました。

Lord Ieyasu had his important reasons to carry out the shogun’s succession rapidly.

家康公には将軍職の引継ぎを早々に行うべく重要な理由がありました。

The first reason is to show off the legitimacy of the Tokugawa family members as the Shogun.

第一の理由は徳川家の人間が将軍となる正当性を示すこと。

Tokugawa Ieyasu wanted to dominate the Shogun's power through accession.

徳川家康は継承を通して将軍の権力をしっかりとつかみたいと考えました。

Both Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi were not successful in maintaining their hegemony due to the lack of successors.

織田信長も豊臣秀吉も後継者がいなかったことで覇権を維持することが出来ませんでした。

Some daimyo considered that Tokugawa Ieyasu could have been Shogun only by chance.

大名の中には徳川家康がたまたま将軍になったのだと思っている者もいました。

He wanted to dominate the Shogun's power through accession.

家康は継承を通じて将軍の権力を掌握したかったのです。

It was a pre-emptive attack for those daimyo.

大名たちに対する先制攻撃でした。
