After graduating from University of Tokyo, I became a kept man and started own business. 9 years later, I joined a group of Japanese listed companies

Founders' Day and a kept man life on August 9, 2012.Working Remotely by Chance.

I was born and raised in Nagasaki prefecture in Japan. As a third-generation A-bomb survivor, August 9 is a very special day for me. It was the day the atomic bomb fell on Nagasaki in Japan. On such a day, I decided to make it the "founding day" of CODEAL Corporation as one of the major events in my life.

I had only 1,000 dollar on hand at the time. I didn't even have the money to rent an office when I started the company with that as my capital, on August 9, 2012. That day was also the day I started living with my wife, who was my girlfriend at the time, paying the rent on my behalf.

Since I was living as a kept man at the time, I couldn't invite people over to my house, which happened to be the reason why I started working remotely. This is what led to the "Codeal" service we operate, which is strong in full remote work jobs.

In addition, I originally had a strong desire for the job of "engineer" (after trying my best to be an engineer, I realized that I was not really suited for it, but it also led me to the idea of "CODEAL", a service for hiring engineers with immediate ability).

Seven non-fiction episodes that happened when we founded the company
After the founding of the company, a lot of things happened.

Each time, I have enjoyed the happenings as an opportunity to learn and as a reward. There are too many episodes to list, so I would like to introduce seven non-fiction episodes that left a deep impression on me.

(1) Moving office and the landlord

At the time, it was difficult to even come up with the money to move, so I asked all my friends to help me move. At that time, I had a bad arrangement (because we were all amateurs renting a car to move), and the landlord of the first floor got angry with me from the first day of moving. I'm really sorry.

After that, the landlord was very kind and helpful, and we started receiving Omori seaweed, a specialty of the Omori Coast. I was also very grateful for this. At that time, I used to cook white rice with the seaweed and eat it. The seaweed was delicious.

(2) Opening a corporate account and credit card

I learned how to open a corporate account for my company from a senior entrepreneur whom I respected, and I repeatedly asked her to open a bank account for me about 10 times. I managed to open a bank account without any problems, but I regretted that I did not open a corporate account and a credit card before starting the business. I have no more social trust than when I was a student.

(3) Meeting with lawyers and accountants

A senior high school and university student whom I respected introduced me to a reliable professional, and I was able to find someone to consult with about legal and accounting matters. At the time (and to be honest, even now), I really didn't know my way around, and I think I asked a lot of embarrassing questions. I am very grateful to my professors for their sincerity in dealing with me in such a state.

(4) Words from a respected senior entrepreneur: "There are so many companies. Your company will be fine too.

When I told him that I was going to start a business, he asked me if I wanted to celebrate. It's okay. Look around. There are so many companies. I'm sure the company you're building will be fine, too.

At that moment, I strongly remember thinking that I wanted to be that kind of cool person, and that I wanted to be able to do something like that.

The next week, a large amount of retort curry arrived in a cardboard box from a senior entrepreneur who could not bear to see what I was doing at that time. The retort curry was also very tasty....

(5) My staple food is Peyoung(Japanese instant noodle). I'll get into the habit of running.

When I bought and ate Peyoung(Japanese instant noodle) every day just because it was the cheapest and filled my stomach with T-points(Japanese points for shopping) that I had accumulated prior to the establishment of the company, I gained five kilograms at once.

At any rate, it was not good enough to continue like this, so I developed a habit of running every morning, which I still do today. It was a good opportunity to develop good habits, and I was lucky (not fat, but luck).

(6) Buying a sleeping bag at Don Quijote(Japanese shopping store)

Together with the founding members, we decided to work as hard as we could (unthinkable now), so we went to the nearby Don Quijote(Japanese shopping store) to buy sleeping bags.

I read on Wikipedia that Don Quijote(Japanese shopping store) was originally called "Thief Market" and that it became popular when they happened to open their stores late at night, and I wondered if we could create a business if we could manage to do so haphazardly. In fact, it was not that easy. In reality, it was not that easy, and it was a tough start.

(7) Crisis of bankruptcy and transfer of business. Celebrating with a highball at Kushikatsu Tanaka

All the businesses I was involved in were not going well, and if things continued as they were, the money I had invested would be gone in a month.

However, at this time, I learned from a respected investor that there was a way to sell the business, and I immediately took action to try to make it work (although I only made the inquiry through a web form and approached him myself).

I'll never forget the taste of the highballs and skewers at Kushikatsu Tanaka(Japanese food store) that we all drank together. It was delicious.

Reasons for the decision to join the CroudWorks Group(Japanese listed company) and the vision of Making Work More Free
As you all know, the decision to join the CroudWorks Group at this time was based on a deep consideration of whether the major change in the external environment caused by the spread of the coronavirus could also be a great opportunity. This was the result of deep consideration.

I believe that the change in the way we work due to the coronavirus has brought forward the speed of change in the way we work by at least 10 years. As a result of my thinking as a manager, I wanted to choose the best way to approach our company's vision of "making work more free.

By joining the CrowdWorks group, which has a vision of "revolutionizing the way we work," I was able to visualize how I could accelerate the speed at which we could realize our vision of "making work more free.

CODEAL Corporation is a company that operates a single business, the "CODEAL" service, a recruitment service for ready-to-work engineers. Thanks to this service, the number of companies using the service is almost 1,000 and the number of job seekers using the service is about 15,000 (as of September 2021).

For the engineers who use our service, our goal is to "make working more free" for engineers, and we are unique in that we can connect directly with companies, and the majority of our job postings are for full remote work.

For the companies that use our service, since we can connect directly with engineers, we can offer more flexible remuneration, work styles, and employment options, especially for engineers who tend to have a hard time being accepted.

Users, members of the CODEAL company, investors, and people who support CODEAL. As I think of each and every one of you, I ask myself, "Which is the best choice? Which is the best choice? After much hesitation, I made a decision and took action.

I am still in my infancy as a manager and as a person. With this opportunity to join a listed company group, I wanted to create my own opportunities and change myself through them.

My father, whom I respect and admire, only went to junior high school. But my parents had nothing to do with it.

I have always had a strong underlying desire to encourage others through the way I have lived my life (or perhaps I want to encourage myself), saying that if even Shota-san, who started his business while working as a kept man, could manage, then surely I can do the same.

This is my personal vision for my life.

After founding the company, I realized deep down that I am very immature, I am limited in what I am good at, and I am not good at many things. And my time is also limited.

In spite of all this, I fell down, got up again, and am still barely able to continue my fun journey because of the support of everyone around me.

I feel that learning through challenges and meeting people there is an invaluable asset. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the users of Codeal, members of my company, investors, professional professors, friends, and family. With the support of countless people, I am able to continue my challenge.

I have nothing but gratitude. I would like to enjoy this journey with you all, so that I can not only be grateful for your support, but also be able to put it into concrete actions on a daily basis, so that I can continue to be of help to everyone through the realization of #WorkingMoreFreely ! Thank you for your continued support!
