「目白御殿」の名前で知られていた、田中氏の邸宅は、今年１月に焼失した。

背広姿で下駄ばきという、ユニークな人だ。

１９７２年当時、『日本列島改造論』という本が、本屋で山積みになっていた。当時、中学生の私も手に取って、中身をさっと見て元に戻した。
その『日本列島改造論』は、去年復刻版が出た。ある程度の数の読者が見込まれるのだろう。

「内閣改造」は常套句だが、それ以外で「改造」という言葉はあまり聞かない。
『日本列島改造論』というタイトルは、石ノ森章太郎が漫画のテーマにしていた「改造人間」に影響されたのだろうか？
人をさらって改造して兵器や悪の手先にするというのが彼の漫画のパターンの一つだが、田中氏がこれを日本列島に当てはめたのなら、すごい発想だ。

また当時、この本も平積みになっていた。気色悪い表紙だ、と思ったものだ。

怪しい二人組が何を企んでいるのやら。

タイトル写真は、『日本列島改造論』の英訳版"Building A New Japan"から引用 。「過密で汚染された」が「成長志向」というのが、当時の日本観だった。

Mr. Kakuei Tanaka's mansion was burnt down this year, but a reprint of "Building A New Japan A Plan for Remodeling the Japanese Archipelago" was published last year.

Tanaka's mansion, known as Mejiro Goten, was destroyed by fire in January of this year.

He was a unique person, wearing a suit and clogs.

In 1972, a book called "Building A New Japan" was piled up in bookstores. As a junior high school student at the time, I picked it up, took a quick look inside, and put it back. A reprint version of "Building A New Japan" was published last year. The publisher probably expects a certain number of readers.

"Cabinet reshuffle" is a common phrase, but I do not often hear the word "reshuffle" in other words. Was the title of the book influenced by Shotaro Ishinomori's manga theme, "Remodeled Man"? One of the patterns of his manga is to kidnap and remodel people to make them into weapons or pawns of evil, and if Mr. Tanaka applied this to the Japanese archipelago, it is an amazing idea.
Also, at the time, this book was on the shelf. I thought the cover was creepy.

The title photo is taken from "Building A New Japan" the English translation of "The Idea of Remodeling the Japanese Archipelago." The view of Japan at the time was that it was "overcrowded and polluted" and "growth-oriented."
