罵声にまみれた京大受験講師の告白：上位生徒だけ教える罪と罰

「先生はスーパーマン、保護者はお客様」じゃない。疲弊する教育現場を救う学校との関わり方のヒント
 
　私は京大の英作文の出題傾向や採点基準を調べるため、５０代の頃に高校生に混じって京大を７回受験したことがある。そして、SNSにその成績開示をしたら
「講師のくせに８割正解って恥ずかしくないのか！」
　と、罵声が相次いだ。京大の入試で８割というのは、全受験生の中でトップレベルなのです。しかし、受験事情が分からない人は「先生は常に100点が当たり前」と思うらしい。

　私の塾は三重県の地方都市にあるけれど、昨年は「阪大医学部３名合格」。今年は「京大医学部２名合格」だった。塾間競争で生き残るために、学力上位の生徒を対象にしているからです。だから、学力下位の生徒は指導対象（つまり、お客様）と思っていない。
　すると、また罵声が飛んできた。
「アホは教えん、ということか！」
 
　講師はスーパーマンではありません。上位の生徒の指導が上手な講師もいれば、下位の生徒の指導が上手な講師もいる。「何でも来い！」なんて講師はいません。私の場合、成績上位の保護者の方はお客様。でも、受験事情が全く分かっていない保護者の方はお客様ではありません。

　I once took the Kyoto University English Composition exam seven times in my fifties among high school students in order to find out the tendency and scoring standard of the English Composition exam at Kyoto University. And when I disclosed those scores on social networking sites.
I received a string of abusive comments like, "You are a lecturer, but you have no shame in getting 80% of the answers right!"
 
　I received a string of abusive comments. An 80% on the Kyoto University entrance exam is the top level among all students taking the exam. However, people who do not understand the circumstances of the examinations seem to think that a score of 100 is always the norm for the teacher.
 
　My cram school is located in a local city in Mie Prefecture, but last year, "3 students passed the medical school of Osaka University. This year, two students were admitted to the Kyoto University School of Medicine. This is because we target students with high academic ability in order to survive in the competition among cram schools. Therefore, they do not consider the students with lower academic ability as the target of instruction (i.e., customers).
　Then, the cussing started up again.
You mean you won't teach idiots!"
 
　Instructors are not supermen. Some instructors are good at teaching higher level students, while others are good at teaching lower level students. There is no such thing as an "anything goes!" There is no such thing as an instructor. In my case, the parents of the top students are my customers. But parents who don't understand the exam situation at all are not my customers.
 
　They go to a sushi restaurant and say, "I want to eat delicious ramen,
I want to eat delicious ramen.
　It is impossible. The only way to get a good ramen is to go to a sushi restaurant and say, "I want good ramen.
