「駅前ビルじゃなく、心のビルディング」（勉強は人生の宝物）=前編＝

　うちは今までに京大医学部４名、阪大医学部４名、名大医学部２名の受験生を指導をさせてもうた。当たり前のように指導させてもうたけど、現役時代を思い出すと隔世の感がある。なんでなら、うちはそんな超絶に成績優秀やなかったからだ。
 
　現役の高校生の頃は、旧帝の医学部を受験するような同級生は雲の上のように感じとった。せやけど、今はそういう生徒もただのカワイイ高校生やと感じる。高学力は人格的に優れてること意味せえへんことも分かってる。
 
　もちろん、学力が高いことは克己心や好奇心旺盛であることの証であるさかい仕事はできる。そやさかい、企業が高学歴の学生を採用したがるんは意味がある。学歴フィルターはええ人材を採用するのに有効なことは分かってる。
 
　同業者の人は
「どないしたら、そんな優秀な生徒を集めること出来たんですか？」
「東大卒でもあれへんのに、なんで賢い生徒が集まってきてんねんな？」
　と、尋ねてくるようになった。
 
　彼らは合格実績を上げて、集客したいだけや。つまり、お金が欲しいだけ。生徒も保護者も敏感やさかい、そのような経営者や講師のスタンスはすぐに見破る。見破られへんでついてゆくんはアホな生徒だけや。賢い生徒は、派手な宣伝や設備に騙されへんもんや。
 
　うちは英検１級に合格したのは３０歳やった。中学の５科目指導が可能になるように復習しとったのは４０代。文系やけど「数Ⅲ」を勉強しとったのは５０代。京大を７回うけてSNSで結果を発信し始めたのもその頃のこと。
 
　つまり、ひたすら勉強を続けてきただけや。
　I have guided four students to the Kyoto University School of Medicine, four to the Osaka University School of Medicine, and two to the Nagoya University School of Medicine. Although I have guided them as a matter of course, I feel a world of difference when I think back to the time when I was working in the school. This is because I was not such an extremely high-achieving student.
 
　When I was still a high school student, I felt that my classmates who took the entrance exam to the medical school of the former imperial university were above me. But now I feel that such students are just cute high school students. I also know that high academic ability does not mean superior personality.
 
　Of course, high academic ability is a sign of conquest and curiosity, so they can do their jobs. So it makes sense that companies would want to hire highly educated students. We know that academic filters are effective in recruiting good people.
 
　People in my industry are saying.
'How did you manage to attract such good students?'
"How are you able to attract so many smart students who did not graduate from Tokyo University?"
 
　They wanted to improve their performance and get more students.
　They just want to increase their success rate and attract customers. In other words, they just want money. Students and parents are very sensitive, and they can easily see through such a stance of the management and instructors. Only stupid students will not see through them and follow them. Smart students are not fooled by flashy advertisements and facilities.
 
　I was 30 years old when I passed the first level of the English Proficiency Test. I was in my 40s when I took revenge to be able to teach 5 subjects in junior high school. I was in my 50s when I was studying "Math III," even though I am a humanities major. It was also around that time that I took the Kyoto University entrance exam seven times and started posting the results on social networking sites.
 
　In other words, I just kept on studying.
