【和訳】4-1エストロゲンによって、全身にわたって女性の二次性徴が発現する。つまり、乳房の発達や、身体の脂肪の再配置、皮膚の軟化などだ。4-2性別適合治療に関しては医薬品の適応外使用になるが、エストロゲン治療は食品医薬品局が認可した17β-エストラジオール（あるいはもっと簡単に言うとエストラジオール）によるものだ。4-3エストラジオールは生物学的に同一のホルモンであり、「人間の体内で産出されるホルモンとまったく同じ化学構造・分子構造をしている」。4-4性別適合治療という状況でのエストラジオールは、最も普通に投与されるものであり、経口、経皮吸収パッチ、注射といった形で投与される。
