Toroaはマオリ語でアルバトロスのこと。思い描いただけでもドキドキするくらい大好きな鳥だ。
12年ぶりに次女を妊娠した時、これを彼女の名前にしようと決めた。大きくて美しく地球全体をhomeにするこの鳥のように生きてくれたらな。と思う。
Toroa is Albatross in te reo Māori. Just to picture the birds in my mind gives me great excitement and joy. Their beauty, the magnificent size, and the power of flying so high against such high winds. When I gave birth to the second child after 12 years, I thought I would like to have Toroa as my daughter's name. I would like her to make the whole world, the Earth, as her home just like the birds.
