Agree or disagree:Genetic engineering will have positive effects on society in the future.

There have been some divisions among experts over the issue of whether or not genetic engineering can have beneficial effects on our future society. In my opinion, I embrace my view that the 21st century will witness a significant increase in the importance of genetic engineering because it can be a viable solution to upcoming diseases, global food insecurity and climate change.

It is certainly true that the development of genetic engineering can greatly contribute to the eradication of diseases. Vaccines are cases in point in which they can treat hitherto incurable diseases. In the midst of the outbreak of COVID-19, vaccines which are capable of disciplining our genes in order for them to react to this infectious disease have saved millions of human lives. Were it not for such tactics, it would be an inescapable fact that we fall victim to this ferocious disease.

The emergence of genetic engineering plays a pivotal role in solving serious shortages of food. For instance, genetically-modified food has been gaining its popularity as an effective measure to solve food crisis. With the presence of such a resource, not only does this food provide many poor people with nutritional value but also it rectifies food insecurity.

Another important factor we should notice in terms of genetic engineering is that it has the potential to solve climate change. In order to adapt to unpredictable patterns of meteorological phenomena caused by global warming, scientists the world over have relentlessly conducted scientific experiments which can be indispensable to create plants that are equipped with genetical resistance to climate change. This indomitable endeavour opens the door to the possibility of numerous species being able to withstand climatic disasters, potentially making breakthroughs in the field of biological advancement.

In summary, three reasons I mentioned above in this essay make it clear that genetic engineering serves as an essential role in the future.
