Modern Times

One of my criteria for choosing the best movies is whether it reminds me the person I love.

My mother, who died 10 years ago, was a cheerful and sociable person. She often asked me to smile when I was a child. That is why she sometimes acted as a clown, and she gave me a lot of love in a playful way.

When my family had lived in Indonesia, the elevator in my apartment was glazed. My mother used to say something in silence to me in the elevator when she saw me off. She put her finger on her cheek and encouraged me to smile every morning. I laughed bitterly, wondering why I had to laugh in the morning.

Chaplin at the end of this movie made me cry. He really looks like my mother who I have not seen in a long time.
