今回は表題の通り、イギリス英語の発音学習用となります。

第1回目は、私が一昨日の イギリス英語発音検定 で指摘を受けた /ɒ/ の発音です。
さっとご覧いただけるとわかりますが、構成としては〈ポイント → EPT課題文 → 例文〉という流れとなっています。

あくまで私の練習用まとめなので有能な新情報が入っているわけではないですが、参考になりましたら幸いです〜🇬🇧

▼ /ɒ/ のポイント

小川先生 (2022) によると、/ɒ/ の音は '口を最大限に開けて出す [ɑ] を作ってから少しだけ唇を丸め' '力強く短く出す' ことがポイントのようです。

そもそも日本語を話す際は口を大きく開く必要が低いため、意識的に大きくしないとはっきりとした音にならなそうですね🌀

ここでは、EPTの課題文（2023年3月-6月）の中で /ɒ/ が使われている箇所を紹介します。
EPTで92をとることが私の目標ということからも、まずはここで使われている単語を練習するのが1番の近道かなと思っています。

課題文 ① Photographing Wildlife in Florida | flɒrɪdə |

One of my hobbies | hɒbiz | and a favorite thing I love to do is nature photography | fəˈtɒɡrəfi | . Wherever I go I carry my camera equipment with me to take photos of the landscape or of the animals and creatures I see. I live near a wildlife drive that is a protected habitat for 367 different species of birds as well as other animals including bobcats | bɒbkats |, otters | ɒtəz |, alligators and snakes that you can photograph from the comfort of your automobile. The drive is a favorite thing to do by visitors from around the world who are nature lovers. I like to post many of the wildlife photos I take on Facebook and many of my Facebook friends tell me they eagerly wait to see what | wɒt | I will post next.

課題文 ② Lighthouses

There are many historic | hɪstɒrɪk | lighthouses around the United States. Lighthouses typically include a tower with a bright light at the top | tɒp | that serves as an important location beacon for passing ships. The very first lighthouse in recorded history was the famous Pharos | ˈfɛːrɒs | of Alexandria, Egypt that was built about 280 B.C. It was 450 feet tall, similar to a 45-story building. The Northern United States has a series of five giant lakes called the Great Lakes that include Lake Michigan, Lake Huron | hjʊərɒn |, Lake Superior, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario | ɒntɛːrɪəʊ |. There are many scenic and historic | hɪstɒrɪk | lighthouses along | əlɒŋ | these lakes. I really enjoy photographing many of these beautiful and historic historic | hɪstɒrɪk | lighthouses when I am in the area.

A number of years ago I was living in Beijing, China where I was principal of a large International Private School. One of my favorite places to visit was the beautiful Beijing Summer Palace which is said to be the best-preserved imperial garden in the world, and the largest of its kind still in existence in China. It is listed as a World Heritage site, a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design. The highlights of the park include Kunming Lake, the Long | lɒŋ | Corridor, Longevity | lɒndʒɛvɪti | Hill, the Marble Boat, and the Garden of Virtue and Harmony. There is also a famous and beautiful 17-hole bridge. It is 150 meters long | lɒŋ | and looks like a long | lɒŋ | rainbow above the blue water. The paths along | əlɒŋ | the lake lead you under shady trees or along | əˈlɒŋ | a narrow-roofed colonnade known as the Long | lɒŋ | Corridor | kɒrɪdɔː |, that contains magnificently painted ceilings.
