たしかに海外に行ったときに日本語の本は貴重。
英語漬けもいいけど、日本語に触れるとすごく良い気分転換になる。

図書館で本を借りた。
I borrowed a book from a library last Wednesday.

さすが移民の国であって、置いてある書籍も多国籍だ。
As might be expected a country which is constituted by immigrations, books are a wide range of nationalities in the library.

奥田英朗のイン・ザ・プールという小説を借りた。

英語の本を借りれよ、という話だが、日本語に飢えていたのと、バスの中でも読める文庫本にした。
You might say I should borrow books written in English, but I was starved of Japanese and wanted to read in the bus.

Mais je voulais vraiment lire des textes en japonais.

伊良部という精神科医の元を、五人の患者が訪れる短編集になっている。
This novel is constructed with 5 short stories which feature a  psychiatric patient in each story. They visit a psychiatric doctor whose name is Irabu.

精神病なので、ありえないような症状も書けると思うが、登場人物は自意識過剰や携帯電話依存など、誰の身にも当てはまるような疾患を抱えている。
They seem to be unreal stories because of the psychiatric problems. However, patients have symptoms which have possibilities for everyone to suffer such as being over self-conscious, a dependent mobile phone, and so on.

筆者は構成作家出身らしく、登場人物の内面の変化や、周囲の正常な人との対照を表現するのがうまい。
The author was a scenario writer so that he is good at describing mental transition of characters and expressing contrast between patients and common people.

小説自体が面白いのか、日本語に飢えていたのか分からないが夢中でページをめくった。
I wonder why I was absorbed in reading this novel. I suppose that this novel is exciting, or I was starved of Japanese.

ここ6年くらい小説を読んでいなかったので、自分でもありえないと思うが、たった二日で読了した。
I cannot believe that I could have finished to read it in just 2 days because I have not read any novel for 6 years.

オススメです。
Anyway, I recommend it.

この本を読んでから長旅のお供に小説を随伴するようになる。
しかしながら、相変わらず本を読むペースは遅いままだ(笑)
