理系大学生は、文系と異なり、物理や化学の技術知識を持っているのが強みです。しかし、大学では、「技術が実務でどのように使われているのか」について学ぶ機会が少ないです。

そこで、以下のようにGoogle検索してください。自分が学んでいる分野を「ｘｘｘ」とします。そして、「ｘｘｘ　特許明細」と、Googleで検索してください。すると、自分の学んだ技術によってどのような特許が登録されているのかがわかります。

特許は基本的に、業務を遂行する上で必要なものを登録するので、現実の業務でどのように技術が応用されているのか理解できます。そして、特許明細には、発明者の名前と所属（企業名）が書いてあります。どうしても気になる場合は、その会社にOB訪問しましょう。

理系の人は、文系と比べて簡単に内定が出るので、OB訪問をしない人が多いです。しかし、これはもったいないことです。

理系の場合、内定のためではなく「入社後にスタートダッシュするための」OB訪問だと考えてください。はっきり言って、ここまでする学生は少ないので、このように過去の知的財産を勉強しておけば、他の同期に差をつけることができます。

技術や知的財産は、過去の技術や知識の応用です。ゼロからいきなり発明が生まれることはほとんどありません。そのため、特許を学んでおくことは、次の発明につながる「アイディア」の蓄積になります。

Frankly speaking, there are not many students who go this far, so if you study past intellectual property in this way, you will be able to stand out from your peers.
