長女はまもなく小学二年生になりだいぶ面倒が楽になってきた一方、次女はまもなく一歳半になり一番面倒が大変な時期を迎えている。

特に食事に出かけた時に一歳半の子は食べさせないといけないし、じっとしていないからとにかく大変である。長女は自分で食べられるようになってきたしほぼ問題はない。

しかし、一歳半の娘の面倒にも長所があることに最近気づいた。子供を車に乗せた時に長女はテレビや音楽をあれにしろこれにしろうるさいが、次女はまだ全く何も要求をしない。何か要望がある時は「あー」とか「うー」とかしかまだ言わない。

そして、自分は車の中で爆音で曲をかけてカラオケのように歌うのが好きで、長女の場合はうるさいと一蹴されるが、一歳半の次女は何も文句も言わずものすごいボリュームでも眠い時は寝てくれる。

大した長所でもない気がするするが、年齢の違う子供の面倒を通して物事にはいつも常に長所と短所があるのだと改めて感じさせられた。こうやってうまく考えようによってポジティブに捉えていくことにより人生をより楽しいものにしていくことができると考える。

While my eldest daughter will soon be entering second grade and has become much easier to take care of, my second daughter will soon be one and a half years old and is entering the most difficult period of life to take care of.

Especially when we go out to eat, we have to feed the one-and-a-half year old, and she does not sit still. My eldest daughter is able to eat by herself and there is almost no problem.

However, I recently realized that taking care of my one-and-a-half-year-old daughter has its advantages. When I put the kids in the car, my oldest daughter is very picky about the TV and music, this or that, but my second daughter has yet to make any demands at all. When she has a request for something, she still only says "ah" or "oooh".

And I like to sing like karaoke in the car with the music blaring, and my eldest daughter kicks me out for being too loud, but my second daughter, who is one and a half years old, doesn't complain about anything and will sleep when she is sleepy, even at a very high volume.

It may not seem like much of an advantage, but taking care of children of different ages has reminded me that there are always pros and cons to everything. I believe that by thinking positively in this way, we can make life more enjoyable.
