「戦場のメリークリスマス」は大好きな映画の一本だ。
以前も書いたが、僕は映画を見るときに映画音楽から入る。
すなわち素敵な旋律の音楽が流れる映画作品を鑑賞するのだ。

最初に「戦場のメリークリスマス」を鑑賞したのは中学生の頃だった。
確か期末テストの合計得点が期待以上のスコアを獲得したご褒美にプレゼントとして好きなDVDを一本買ってもらった。

はじめて「戦場のメリークリスマス」を見た時は、デビットボウイ演じるジャックと坂本龍一演じるヨノイ大尉のキスシーンに何とも言えない気分になった。

それでも何度も見返すうちに、あのシーンは人種や性別を越えた愛を表現している名シーンだと思うようになった。

ジャックは凄惨な最期を迎えるのだがキリスト教の自己犠牲を表現しているのではないだろうか。

前提知識がなく無知なまま鑑賞していた瑞々しい感性はとうに失われてしまったが、あの頃と変わらず今日もまた平和を祈る。
