When I was reading other writers' articles in 'note', I saw articles on a department store in the UK, Harrods. It is one of the world’s most famous and established department stores. I had been there a few times when I lived in the UK. But on one of those visits, I saw two things that I still remember well. The first was an incident that happened in front of the department store. It was when I was driving my family to the department store that I saw it. When I stopped at a red light, I saw several police officers rushing a car and breaking the windshield and windows. Then, they pulled the driver and others out of the car and stood them with their backs against the car. And they finally put handcuffs on the driver and the others. It was an instant event. But it was so shocking to my wife and me that we were frozen and had nothing to say for a moment. It was as if we had seen one of the film scenes. Immediately after that, the red light turned green and I started driving to the department store. After a while, I talked about it with my wife and we both were shocked to see it.
Then we safely arrived at, and went into, the department store. The second thing happened in the store. When we were walking around the store, we found a children's hairdresser. So my wife asked my daughter if she could have her hair cut there. Then, she said, Yes. It was a big surprise to my wife and me because she had always refused to have her hair cut at a hairdresser. I did not know exactly why she agreed. But it was probably because the hairdresser in Harrods was very open without walls and windows. So she must have been able to go in with no constraints. It was the first time in her life that she had cut her hair at a hairdresser.

　noteで他のライターの記事を読んでいたら、イギリスのデパート・ハロッズの記事が目に入いりました。ハロッズは、世界で最も有名な老舗デパートのひとつです。英国に住んでいた頃、何度か行ったことがあります。そのうちの1回で、今でもよく覚えていることを目にしました。 始めに目にしたのは、、デパートの前で起きた事件でした。ちょうど、家族を乗せてデパートに車で向かっていた時でした。赤信号で止まっていると、数人の警察官がある車に突進し、フロントガラスと窓ガラスを割ったのです。そして、運転手と他の者を車から引きずり出し、車に背を向けて立たせました。そして、最後に運転手たちに手錠をかけたのです。一瞬の出来事でした。でも、妻とボクにはあまりに衝撃的な出来事で、凍りついてしまい、しばらく何も言えませんでした。まるで映画のワンシーンを見たようでした。その直後、赤信号が青に変わったので、デパートへと車を走らせました。しばらくして、妻とその話をしましたが、事件を見てショックを受けていました。
　そして無事にデパートに到着し、中に入りました。二つ目の出来事は店内で起こりました。店内を歩いていると、子供用の美容院を見つけました。そこで妻が娘に「そこで髪を切ってもらっていい？」と問いかけたところ、娘が「いいよ」と答えたのです。妻も私もびっくりでした。娘は美容院で髪を切ってもらうのをずっといやがっていました。「いいよ」と言った理由は分かりません。おそらくハロッズの美容院は壁や窓がなく、とても開放的だったからでしょう。そのおかげで、何の抵抗もなく入ることができたのでしょう。娘が美容院で髪を切るのは生まれて初めてのことでした。
