In Japan, apples are usually stored and kept in crates. This is a Japanese tradition and will not be easy to change. Nowadays, we can see a lot of alternatives, like cardboard boxes and plastic boxes to the crates. They are much lighter and easier to handle. But no sign of change. What is more, the crates have no scientific backgrounds to be used. They seem to be used just to make them look red and delicious.
Everything tends to change and look different once it is in a box. That is true for our human societies. In particular, organizations have an impact on us. They are necessary and helpful for us to grow. But sometimes, they cheat us, as seen from the cases of Big Motor, a Japanese company, and hurt their members.
I had experienced both of them before I retired. I worked with a few companies and one of them enabled me to realise my dream. In other words, I could live in Europe and do sales to European customers. It was very hard to do that without the support of the company about thirty years ago. So I really appreciate the fact that it sent me to Europe.
On the other hand, it pained me. After I came back from Europe, I came to work with superiors whom I had never seen before. And I had a lot of trouble with them. They did not listen to me and seemed to look down on me. After all, I was very exhausted and could not stay with the company. I had no choice but to leave it to get some rest. The company was a heaven and a hell for me.
A box always has a bright side and a dark side. The bright side is useful for us, but the dark side sometimes hurts us.

　日本で、リンゴは普通、木箱に入れて保管されいます。これは日本の伝統で、簡単には変えられそうにありません。現在では、ダンボール箱やプラスチック箱など、木箱に代わるものが数多くあります。どれも、はるかに軽く、扱いやすいものです。でも、変わる気配はありません。しかも、木箱を使う科学的な根拠がありません。赤くておいしそうに見せるためだけに使われているようです。
　何事も箱に入ると変わり、違うように見えがちです。人間社会も同じです。なかでも、組織は影響力があります。組織はボクたちが成長するために必要であり、役に立つものです。でも、日本のビッグモーターに見られるように、時にボクたちを騙し、その中のメンバーを傷つけることもあります。
　定年する前に、ボクは両方を経験しました。数社で働きましたが、その一社おかげでボクは夢を実現できました。その会社のおかげで、欧州に滞在し、営業活動ができました。会社にいなければ、30年前にこの夢を実現するのは難しかったと思います。なので、駐在させてくれたことには非常に感謝しています。
　でも、会社で辛い思いもしました。欧州から帰国後、それまでにあったこともない上司と仕事をすることになったのです。ボクのいうことに耳を貸さず、見下され、トラブルが絶えませんでした。結局、ボクは疲れ果て、その会社に留まることができませんでした。心機一転するために、退職せざるを得ませんでした。天国と地獄を見ました。
　箱には常に、光と闇があります。光の部分は、人に大いに役立ちますが、闇の部分は時に人を傷つけることもあります。
