Japan advanced to the World Cup knockout stage and achieved feats. It beat two European powerhouses, Germany and Spain, in the group league. I am proud of and cheered up by their achievements. It will face Croatia in the last 16. Croatia is not easy for Japan to beat since it was the runner-up in the World Cup in Russia. But I hope they will win it with their more powerful performances to advance to the quarter-final.
This World Cup saw good performances by nations other than in Europe. Among them are the United States, Australia and Morocco, besides Japan. They also advanced to the knockout stage. It is no doubt that they have caught up with the football powerhouses.

　ワールドカップカタール大会で日本がグループリーグを突破しました。しかも、ドイツとスペインと破っての突破です。日本にとっては歴史的快挙です。選手の健闘を称えると共に、元気をいただき感謝です。次は前回準優勝のクロアチアですが、是非とも勝利して、初のベスト8入りを果たしていただきたいです。
　今回の大会は、欧州以外の国の健闘が目立ちます。日本以外にも、米国、オーストラリアとモロッコが決勝トーナメント進出を果たしています。各国の戦力差が縮まっているのは間違いないようです。
