ニューヨーク市警本部は会見で、１０代の若者グループ２組が口論中に発砲事件が起きたとし、一方のグループの１人が銃を取り出したと説明した。
最初の発砲は列車内であったが、死傷した６人全員が駅ホームで撃たれたという。３４歳の男性が死亡した。他の５人は病院に搬送されたが命に別状はないという。

At least five people were shot inside a Bronx subway station Monday afternoon, according to law enforcement sources.
The multiple victims were hit by gunfire at Mount Eden Avenue station, which serves the 4 train, just after 4:30 p.m., sources told The Post.
The NYPD requested residents avoid the area around the station.

An argument between two groups of teenagers left one person dead and five others injured in a shooting at a New York subway station on Monday, police said.
The shooting started after the train’s doors opened on the elevated platform at the Mount Eden Avenue station in The Bronx at about 4.38pm – the start of the evening commute. A 34-year-old man was killed. The wounded included a 14-year-old girl, 15-year-old boy and three adults aged 28, 29 and 71. Some of the victims were believed to have been involved in the dispute and others were bystanders waiting for the train, police said, describing four of the injuries as serious.
