Working as an interpreter at exhibitions.

I need to work as an interpreter when taking part in the exhibition, which was one of my works as an oversea's sales. rep. (international sales).

The working flow at exhibitions is following.

When people stopped to see the poster, samples or demonstration...

1、I will say "thank you" to them.

2、I will ask questions, such as "Are you looking for this kind of product for your work??"

3、I will ask them about what kind of difficulties they have if they say "Yes".
After that, I will introduce the outline of the products to them as a coutermeasure.

4、I will explain the purpose (why we show you this demonstration) and the details of it if our senior colleagues are demonstrating.

5、 I will ask them if they want to experience our products there if they become interested in them.

6、Exchanging business cards.

I think I introduced the products to customers inside Japan (90%) at that time, but sometimes people from other
countries visited us (10%) and in such circumstances, I explained to them.
However, when detaled explanations or high level explanations were required, I translated what my boss says into English.

As for my preparation for exhibitions, I read the catalogs and manuals for usage in Japanese and English very carefully. In addition to reading them, I put an emphasis on operating the product (device) for learning it. I also learned the advantage by introducing the product as well as learning industries that require the product. Finally, I also tried to memorize the technical terms for potential customers. I did this kind of learning for every exhibition. By doing this, I was able to talk with customers without hesitation.
