ブックレビュー:Conversations with friends by Sally Rooney

大学一年生の時に書いたお気に入りの本を紹介するブックレビューを書け、と授業で言われて書いた文章。

思ったより今より英語ができてて、やっぱり第二言語ってのは磨き続けてこそ維持、向上できるものですね。

This was the English novel that I read through for the first time in my life.

Not only that, the fact that this book filled my empty heart with the absence of my best friend was making this reading experience memorable. (She is still alive, don't worry. She just went back to her home country in the middle of semester)

Every time I opened the page, I was immersed in the simple yet radical flows of the literature called "Conversations with Friends" by Sally Rooney.

Frances, the main character, is a coolheaded and darkly observant young woman, and currently pursuing a career in writing while studying in Dublin. She was once dated with her female best friend Bobbi back in high school, and she started secretly dating an attractive older married man, Nick in the last year of university.

This book talks about her life in general and romance occupies just part of that. What Frances thought in her mind is portrayed very clearly and it is really fun to follow her way of telling stories in ironic ways.

I like this book because Frances is not devoting herself to a man, rather enjoying the relationship with an actor Nick to add a little excitement to her life.

In addition, she enjoys things really quietly just like many introverts do but she is bold and takes risks, and not submissive at all.

Your new favorite character, an introverted but drastic Frances is waiting for you in the book "Conversations with Friends".

Thank you for reading my blog :)
