警視庁七曲警察署捜査一係の藤堂係長（石原裕次郎）を中心に、ニックネームで呼び合う個性豊かな刑事たちの活躍を描いたテレビドラマ。1972年（ホリエアツシ生まれてない（笑））のスタートから15年近くに亘って放送が続けられた長寿番組であり、現在では日本の刑事ドラマの金字塔とも称される作品である。
A TV drama depicting the activities of a group of unique detectives who call each other by nicknames, centered on Chief Todo (Yujiro Ishihara) of the First Investigation Section of the Nanamagari Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. It is a long-running program that has continued to be broadcast for nearly 15 years since its start in 1972, and is now considered a monumental work in Japanese detective dramas.
