カリエは、小さな魔女。
王立魔法学校初等科の劣等生です。

魔法の定期試験では失敗ばかり。

試験官による口頭での出題。
「このトカゲをヘビに変身させなさい」

しっかりヘビの変身呪文を唱えたはずなのに
なぜか恐ろしい姿のドラゴンが現れます。

もう試験会場は大混乱。

「あ～あ。どうしてあたしって、失敗ばかりするんだろ」
カリエはぼやきます。

「でも、カリエってすごいよ。
　私なんか、ドラゴンなんて絶対に出せないもん」
友だちで優等生のメンマが慰めます。

「あんなの出したって、なんの役にも立たない」
「そりゃまあ、そうだけど････」

「明日の追試、とっても心配」
「あのね。きっと呪文、深く唱えすぎなのよ。
　適当に力を抜いてやれば、カリエなら大丈夫だって」

「そうかな」
「そうだよ。だから、頑張らないで、気楽にね」

「うん。なんとか、やってみるけど････」

メンマと別れて、ひとりぼっちの帰り道　
カリエは夕焼け空を見上げます。

（明日こそ、うまくできますように！）
どうしても強く願わずにいられません。

けれども、その瞬間　

このまま続くはずの明日でなくて　
まったく新しい明日をひとつ作ってしまったことに　

カリエは気づきもしないのでした。

Witch to Tomorrow

Karie is a small witch.

She is a backward student
of the Royal Magic School Primary Studies.

She will fail only magical periodic exams.

Oral examination by the examiner.
"Transform this lizard into a snake."

She should have chanted a snake transformer spell,
but somehow a dreadful figure of a dragon appeared.

The examination site was already in great confusion.

"Oh, why do I always fail?"
Karie will blur.

"But Karie is amazing.
I can not make a dragon appear anyway. "
Menma, her friend and honor student, comfort her.

"It makes no sense to let such emergence happen."

Karie, if you pull through appropriately, you should be fine. "

"I wonder if that's true?"

Separating from Menma, on the way back alone,
Karie looks up at the sunset sky.
