ワールドカップは先週の日曜日、エクアドールが開催国カタールと対戦する事から始まりました。
4年に一度、世界中のファンが応援するために開催国に押し寄せます。
サッカー選手にとってワールドカップ出場は最大の目標なのでサッカーの最大の祭典とも言われています。
ワールドカップに起こるドラマと感動は言葉にできないです。サッカーファン以外の人も含めて誰もが観戦する大会です。

ただ今回のワールドカップに関して、多くのサッカーファンは以前の大会のように興奮していないようです。
今回のワールドカップはいつもと異なっています。
多くのサッカーファンが熱烈になっていない原因は開催地の選択と大会開催のタイミングです。

ワールドカップは基本的に6月から7月にかけて開催されています。
今回は初めて11月から12月に開催されるワールドカップです。
カタールは夏の時に非常に暑いです。
40～50度は平常温度のため、国際サッカー連盟は大会を冬開催にしたが変更に熱烈なサッカーファンや選手から批判がありました。
通常11月から12月、ほとんどの選手にとってシーズンの真っ只中です。
シーズン中に大会を開催しているため怪我で欠場し、回復する時間が足りなかったスター選手もいます。
通常ワールドカップが夏に開催される理由は長いシーズンを終えた選手に休養の期間を与えるためです。
選手は通常約３週間の休養が必要ですが、今回は7日間未満しかなかったのです。代表のチームメートと練習する時間が短かったと嘆いていた選手は多いです。
今の時期にワールドカップを開催する事によってプレーヤーへのプレッシャー、ストレス、怪我の増加に繋がっています。

また過去10年間に国際サッカー連盟の汚職、カタールにいる労働者の人権侵害に対する懸念もありました。
一部のファンはワールドカップを観戦することが倫理的にどうかさえ疑問視しています。
2015年にFBIは一部の国際サッカー連盟の幹部を今回のワールドカップに関連するマネーロンダリングと汚職で起訴したニュースもありました。
今回のカタールワールドカップのタイミングはこういう問題により、多くのサッカーファンはあまり熱心に観戦していません。
今後冬にワールドカップは開催される事はないと考えられます。

Qatar is hot during the summer. Temperatures can reach 50 degrees and so FIFA decided to move the competition to winter which annoyed fans and players.
November and December are mid season for most clubs.
In addition, as the world cup is being held at this time, many star players wont take part because they are either injured and never had time to recover.
The World cup is held in Summer to give players some time to rest following a long season.
Holding the world cup now leads to more pressure on players, greater stress and more injuries.
There have also been concerns about FIFA's corruption over the last 10 years, violations of worker's human rights which
has led some fans to question whether it is even ethical to watch the world cup.
Around 2015, the FBI charged some FIFA members for money laundering and corruption linked to this world cup.
The timing of the world cup, issues surrounding it has caused fans to be less enthusiastic of this World Cup.
Its highly likely that the World Cup will never be hosted during winter ever again.
