黒潮から

日本の地方都市の文化とコミュニティを見つめる旅をしながら地域らしさと幸せとはなにかを問いかけ、撮影している。 今作では、民俗学者、柳田國男の晩年の著書である『海上の道』をモチーフに、当著書において柳田が日本人の原点であると考える黒潮のエネルギーがいかに山を抜けて都市へと続くのか。私たちの幸せのエネルギーの源について、作者の故郷である房総半島、そして歴史的、地形的につながりのある紀伊半島を舞台に問いかける。

From the Kuroshio Stream

Working on photographs and searching for what an identity of community and its happiness are while traveling the regional cities in Japan to study their cultures and communities. The motif of this work is “Kaijo no Michi” (“Sea Route” in English) written by a folklorist, Kunio YANAGIDA, in his later life. According to the book, the Kuroshio stream, in Okinawa, is the origin of Japanese people. How does the energy of the Kuroshio flow through the mountains into the cities? This work questions the energy of happiness from the Boso peninsula, my hometown and also the Kii peninsula, which is historically and geographically related to the Boso peninsula.
