Hello everyone! How's it going? I am doing well so far!
I will talk about “Lawrence”, which is the city I am staying in. I already loved this city so far even though I am still a Lawrence beginner!! I really really like it::)) There are two reasons that's why I think so. Firstly, all of the people in Lawrence love KU, and secondly, I simply feel this environment fits me so much.

So first, what does it mean that the people in Lawrence are loving KU…? Anyway, they do love KU so much!!! It has a character called “Jayhawk” in KU. There are so many Jayhawks not only on campus but also at restaurants, shops, and all of them. And most of the people in Lawrence are wearing Kansas or KU t-shirts!! (We can buy any KU stuff even in the supermarket) It's very interesting for me because I totally can't believe it in this same situation in Japan!!! Also, I feel they are really loving KU! When I do so, I feel so happy to come to KU as an exchange student every time:)

Next, I will talk about the second reason, “I can feel this environment is fitting me”. Simply put, Lawrence is in the countryside. So there are lots of greens!! And the sky is so large because there are not any high buildings! Also, even the streets, the parking and all of them compared to Japan are large! Big! Huge!! I don't like rushing in such a crowd on the train every morning in Japan, so it's very comfortable for me here because everyone has their own pace, and there is no under heavy pressure. For example, the driver is whistling even though the bus is late. The part-time workers in Walmart are listening to music during their work time. (it doesn’t matter to the countryside) Anyway, I think it’s amazing that the people here have their own pace and spend their own time! And I think it’s very pretty here! The houses, The flowers and plants along the street, the birds and so on… I think the prettiest thing is the street names, which are named by each of the states, like Alabama, Illinois, Massachusetts, etc… It’s exciting for me only to search where I go on google map::))

Therefore, I really like the city “Lawrence” for these two reasons!! Also, I feel so happy fo far because I am inspired by all of the things because it is completely different from Japan here!! Thank you for reading this journal as well! Be careful and take care of yourself from this summer heat!

日本の皆さん、こんにちは！お元気ですか？私は元気に過ごしています:)
今回は私が来ている町 Lawrenceについて紹介したいなと思います。こっちの生活が始まって３週間目に入るところで、まだ Lawrence beginner ですが既にこの町が大好きになりました！とても気に入っています::)) その理由は大きく分けて、2つあります。とてもざっくり言うと1つ目は Lawrenceの人々の KU愛、2つ目は単純に感覚的に自分に合っているなと感じるからです。

それでは、まず1つ目の Lawrenceの人々の KU愛とは何なのか。とにかくLawrenceに暮らす人々は KUが大好き！！愛しているといっていいほど！またKUには Jayhawkというマスコットキャラクターがいます。キャンパス内には Jayhawkだらけ！（ポスターや銅像、オブジェなどありとあらゆるもの）またどのレストランやお店に入っても、必ず Jayhawkがいます:) さらにLawrenceに暮らす人々は学生に限らず、6～70％くらいの確率でKansas or KU T-shirtを着ています！（キャンパスに限らず、町のsupermarketでも、KUグッズを買うことができるセクションがあります）信じられますか？絶対に日本では考えられないシチュエーションすぎて、いつも面白く感じます。そしてその分、町のみんながKUを愛しているということが感じられます。そう感じるときにKUに留学することができて良かったなと毎回思います:)

次に2つ目の自分に合っているなと思っている理由を紹介します。大きな理由は”田舎”だからです。とにかく町には緑がいっぱい！（芝生がいっぱいなのでどこでもピクニックできるレベル）また高い建物がないので、とにかく空が広い！広いといえば道路も、駐車場も、日本に比べたらありとあらゆるものが広い、大きい！また私は日本の通勤ラッシュとかせかせかしている感じがあんまり得意ではないので、こっちの何でものびのびしている感じがとても気に入っています:) 例えば、バスは時間通りに到着してないのにかかわらず運転手さんは口笛を吹きながら運転してくれるところだったり。Walmartのパートさん達はみんなイヤホンをつけて働いているところだったり。（これは田舎関係ない）とにかくみんながそれぞれ自分のペースを持って過ごしていて、1日に何度も「うわ～こういうところいいな」って感じます。さらに町には可愛いなと感じるところもいっぱい！お家だったり、道端に咲いている植物だったり、その辺にいる鳥だったり。その中でも1番可愛いなって思ったのが、この町の Streetが縦はAlabama, Illinois, Massachusettsなどアメリカの州の名前になっているところ。（ちなみに横はシンプルに番号）Google mapで目的地を探すだけなのに「道の名前が可愛いな」と気分が上がります:)

このような感じでLawrenceがとても気に入っています！（いいところ全然書ききれてない）日本とは全く違う環境なので、あらゆるものから刺激をもらえて面白い毎日です:) 今回も読んでいただきありがとうございました！暑さに気を付けてお過ごしください！
