What kind of sushi do you like?

娘は海老、サーモン、マグロが大好きです。
多くのネタを食べることはお寿司の楽しみですね。
My daughter loves the  shrimp, salmon, and tuna.
Eating a lot of toppings is the fun of sushi.

一方,富山名物『ます寿司』の具はマスだけ。
他のお弁当ほど華やかではありません。
On the other hand, Toyama's specialty "masu sushi" is made only of trout.
It's not as beautiful as other bentos.

さすがに地味で心配になりますが
本当は光り輝く美しいお寿司なのです。
 But it is actually a shining beauty.

『ます寿し』はかぐや姫なのか

『ます寿司』は笹の葉に包まれた、丸い薄紅色のお寿司。
笹の葉の緑色とマスの色が美しく対照し、鮮やかです。
``Masu sushi'' is a round, pale pink sushi wrapped in bamboo leaves.
The green of the bamboo leaves and the color of the trout contrast beautifully, creating a vibrant sushi.

ある日、娘の竹取物語（古文）の音読を聞くことで、このお寿司はまるで『かぐや姫』のようだと思うように。
One day, as I listened to my daughter read The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter aloud, I started thinking that this sushi was just like ``Kaguyahime.''

笹の葉はまるで光り輝く竹のように
円をかいたように立ち上がります。
The bamboo leaves stand up in a circular pattern, like shining bamboo.

静けさの中の輝き
brilliance in silence

そしてその中に
丸い赤ちゃんが座っているのです。
And a round baby is sitting inside it. 

それとも月や鞠なのでしょうか。
 Or is it the moon or Mari?

どんな気分で食べたらよいのか

ます寿司は前田利興が将軍吉宗へ献上した歴史があります。
笹の葉をめくる時は、一体誰の気持ちになればよいのでしょう。

竹取の翁の気持ちで寿司を眺めるもよし

ます寿司は丸である形と笹の葉も楽しんでもらいたいのです。
That's why we want you to enjoy Masu Sushi with its round shape and bamboo leaves.
