英詩のマガジンの本配信、今月2本目です。歌われる詩の1回めです。今回はボブ・ディランの11枚目のアルバム 'New Morning' (1970、下) に収められた 'If Not for You' です(「イフ・ナット・フォー・ユー」)。

'New Morning' に収められたテークが録音されたのは1970年8月12日 (Columbia Recording Studios, New York) です。

'Biograph' のライナー・ノーツでディランは 'If Not for You' を妻 Sara を念頭に書いたと言っています。

この歌をリクス (Christopher Ricks) らによる校訂版で考えてみます。
