先日というか先月、ハンガリーに旅行に行ったので旅行記になります。ブダペストというと何を想像しますか？

On last month, I’ve traveled to Budapest, today I’d like to talk about my travel experience in Hungary. If you thought about Budapest what things or places are comes up in your mind?

ブダペストに今回は大学の下見で行ったのですが、なんとも言えませんでした。いわゆる東欧にありがちなソ連チックな感じが街に残っていつつも、どこか近代っぽいお店があったりという感じ。まあ旧ソ連支配下の国だったのでそういった雰囲気が残っていても仕方ないでしょう。

I went to Budapest this time as a visiting for my universities, but I couldn't say enough about the city. The city still has a Soviet-like atmosphere, which is common in Eastern Europe, but there are shops that look somewhat modern. Well, it was a country under the rule of the former Soviet Union, so it's no wonder that such an atmosphere remains.

空港から街へ向かった際、チェックイン前に宿の近くでコーヒーを注文して中華レストランで少し一服することにしました。

まさかの宿トラブル

宿に到着したものの、ここで問題発生。Google Mapに従ってたどり着いた宿の入口でチェックイン方法を調べてると、暗証番号を入力して入るドアがあったのですが、暗証番号が探しにくくてここで少しトラブルにぶち当たりました。

I booked Airbnb in Budapest, so I went to there by tram, but I’ve got problem, which is I couldn’t able to get into the building. Oh my gosh... It seems like a I need to enter security code on keypad.

しばらく奮闘しつつなんとか宿に入って、その日はゆっくり休むことにしました。翌日ハンガリー人の友達に合う約束をしていたので、ちょこっとプランを練りつつ早めに寝ることにしました。

I had small problem but able to enter building... the day was really long and i was really tired of flight so decided to take rest for a bit. The next day was my first meeting with my Hungarian friend. I was making plan for next day and went to bed earlier.

翌日。

チェックアウトすることになっていたものの、なかなか忙しいスケジュールで次の宿に行くことになりました。宿にチェックインしたあとはハンガリー人の友達と合流というスケジュール。

Next day. I had to check out my Airbnb, but i need to catch up with my friend so i had busy schedule in that day. Anyways, I checked out my previous Airbnb and have to go to the new Airbnb hotel.

しかもここでまた問題発生。チェックアウトしたはいいものの、完璧に違う宿にたどり着いてしまいました。しかも時間は昼の12時頃、30分くらいかけて来たのに最悪です。

As usual I had other problem which is I arrived at different Airbnb hotel. That place have to go to after next Airbnb hotel so I booked three different Airbnb places. Also i arrived at 12pm in that wrong place, it takes 30mins to get there so I gotta need to leave there as soon as possible.

路面電車を使ってとりあえず、反対側の住宅街へ。

so I was using tram to go to the opposite side of the city. Gah dayum!

宿に着いてからクタクタだったものの、約束の時間まで20分くらいだったので急ぐことにしました。

Anyways, I’ve arrived at Airbnb hotel, and I was quite exhausted in that time, but I could not cancel my plan with friend, because i was excited to see my friend : )

I’ve got need to rush a bit.

だいぶ時間がない、、、

I don’t have much time until meeting time...

友達には事前に遅れると伝えたので、相手も待ち合わせのタイミングで駅周辺に到着。その後に友達と合流して、ブダペストの街を観光してもらうことにしました。

So on the way to the heading to the place, I text her and tell her I’m gonna late for bit. We catched up at station called Deák Ferenc tér.

街の中心地にある美術館に行こうと思ったものの、これは普通につまらないと思い、入るのはやめて外の写真を撮ることに。時期的に天気は悪くないものの、時期的にハンガリーは少し肌寒かったです。

We decided to go to the museum first but we noticed that it wouldn’t be suitable option for us. In that time, the theme of the museum was weddings so it wouldn’t be for us hahaha. The weather was pretty bad in that day, because it was winter.

自由橋とセーチェーニ鎖橋

そのあとはハンガリーの特徴的な自由橋からセーチェーニ鎖橋まで一緒に歩くことに。セーチェーニ鎖橋と自由橋がブダペストの代表的な橋ですが、合計で7つの橋がブダペストにはあるみたいです。

Afterwards, my friends suggest me to go to the bridge there are seven bridges in Budapest, but we went to the Liberty Bridge and Széchenyi Lánchíd because I requested to go to two famous bridges.

なんかやたらとアジア人特に韓国人、中国人が多かった。ブダペストは思っているよりもアジア人が多いです。

I don’t know why in Budapest, I’ve seen so many Asians especially Korean or Chinese. I would expected that Eastern Europe would have less Asians, but reality is totally different.

30分くらい川沿いを歩きながら、セーチェーニ鎖橋の目の前につきました。

We walked and talked like a 30 minutes. hahaha it was pretty long walking, and finally we’ve arrived at our one of destinations.

セーチェーニ鎖橋は全長400mとも言われており、1849年に完成したそうです。目の前に2台ライオンの彫刻が置いてあるのが特徴的。この日は天気が荒れていて雨が降っていましたが、橋から見える夜のブダ王宮は非常に綺麗でした。

This bridge has 400 meter length and built in 1849. Front of the bridge, as you can see two lion sculpture on the right and kn the left. The weather is really bad and rainning, but night view of Buda Castle was really pretty.

時間もあったので、友達とは近くの韓国料理店で一緒に食事をしました。友達が韓国好きとのことであえて今回は韓国のお店に行きました。生活費が安いと言われてるハンガリーですが、留学生の増加のせいか割と物価は高い傾向にあります。

We had time so decided to have late lunch at Korean restaurant, people often say about Budapest like everything is quite cheap but it is not true due to inflation and increase number of international students.

夕暮れ時だったので人で賑わっていましたが、白人ばかりで当然ながら僕みたいなアジア人は見かけませんでした。

It was night time so I’ve seen so many people there, but there is not any Asians like me in that time ahaha.

下の建物はブダ地区から見える王宮です。

Buda Castle was really beautiful, I was just think about the life in Budapest.

漁夫の砦から見たブダペストの景色。やはり夜に見るセーチェーニ鎖橋は息を呑むような美しさでした。

Night view from Fisherman's Bastion was really pretty view, I stopped thinking for a while. It is definitely worth experiences in Budapest.

別の日、この日は美術館とハンガリー料理、夜景を見ることにしました。

代表的なハンガリーの料理

ハンガリーを出国する前にこれだけは食べておきたいということでハンガリーのゴヤーシュと言われるスープを食べました。ハンガリー料理はもっとソフトな味わいだと思ってたものの、普通にめちゃくちゃ辛いです (笑)。

so we had a Hungarian Goulash as a dinner. I thought Hungarian food was pretty much sweet or salty taste, but this Goulash had really spicy taste.

日本語読みをするとキュルテーシュカラーチと呼ばれるハンガリーのお菓子。モチっとした食感の上におそらく砂糖と思われるトッピングがありモチモチした食感と甘い味わいのセットでとても美味しい味わいでした。

This Hungarian pastry is called kürtőskalács. It had a chewy texture with a topping that was probably sugar and very tasty set of chewy and sweet flavours at same time.

代表的なハンガリーの料理といえばフォアグラ。滞在中には食べれませんでしたが、次回ハンガリーに戻ったときに試したい料理。

Some Hungarian dish includes Foie gras. I didn't get to try Goose liver Hungarian style during my stay, but would like to try it next time when I return to Budapest.

1人で街を探索

この日は一人でちょっと街を探索することにしました。人通りが多くない路地なんかでカフェを見つけたり、現地の人しかいかないようなお店を見つけました。

I found café in alleyway and shops that only locals would go to. In this time, I was just hang out by my own.

まとめ：ハンガリーに旅行に行くときのマメ知識

ハンガリーに旅行して薄々感じてことですが、人の雰囲気や建物はちょっと東欧っぽいなという感じです。ギリシャ人と比べても人の態度とかはちょっと冷たいような感じがしました。

もともと社会主義国だったのでまあ仕方ないかもしれません。去年の冬に行ったポーランドも似たような雰囲気でした。でも生活の質としてはハンガリーのほうが若干高いかなという印象です。

As a my travel experience in Hungary, I feel like a way to behave others and atmosphere in Budapest makes me feel typical Eastern Europe. I also been to Warsaw, Poland on last December, but atmosphere is pretty much same. I would say quality of life in Budapest is much better than Warsaw, Poland.

空港でsimを買わないほうがいい

ブダペストの空港にはsimカードを売っているお店がありますが、そこでsimカードを買ってもアクティベートできないのでこちらのようなsimカードを事前に買っておいたほうがいいと思います。

僕は空港でシムを買ったものの、使えずにスタッフに伝えて返金してもらいました。急遽AiraloというeSimを買ってその場を凌ぐことはできました。

In Budapest Airport, where sells sim card for phone, but actually they have only unofficial sim cards so you couldn't activate your sim card… In fact, I purchased sim card from store, but I couldn't use it and she refunded me my money. Instead of using fake sim I bought sim on Airalo website so it was fine for a while.

シャトルバスに乗ったほうがいい

あと空港から費用を節約したい場合はシャトルバスを取ったほうがいいです。チケットは空港の出口に売ってるところがあるのでそこで買いましょう。Budapest Goというアプリでも買えますが、QRコードを読まないといけないで万が一アクティベートできないこともあるのでここは紙のチケットを選んだほうがマシ。

ハンガリーではUberなどの配車サービスはなく、Boltという配車アプリが一般的。

If you want to go to the city, I definitely recommend you to take shuttle bus from airport. Ticket can be available at ticket selling store or machine. You can also purchase ticket on Budapest Go app, but you have to scan QR code to activate your ticket so I would say paper ticket is the best option.

意外と物価が上がっている

また外食や買い物は日本と変わらないくらい高いです。物価が安いと言われていたブダペストですが、インフレや留学生の増加もあって2024年現在は物価が高騰してます。

食べ物などは安いですが、外食とかすると普通に日本と同じくらいします。僕も友達と2回外食に行って、一人で中華料理店、またカフェに行きましたが物価としては日本と同じくらいでした。

Actually, eating out fee and shopping fee would be same prices as Japan. People often mentioned about Budapest has affordable cost of living and shopping, but which is not true due to inflation and increased number of international students.

Eating out is quite cheap, but expenses of eating out is pretty much same as my country. I've been to Chinese restaurant and coffee shop by my own, and I've been to Korean restaurant, Hungarian restaurant, and Boba / Bubble tea shop but was quite similar prices as my country provides.

まあ全体的にブダペストはアクティビティは多くそれなりに楽しめそうだなとは思ったのが率直な関係です。

In my honest opinion, I would say Budapest has a lot of things to do and you can enjoy a lot.
