僕の本職はワールドミュージック専門の評論家でラジオDJ。世界中の音楽フェスを周り、気になる音楽アーティストを見つけ、日本に紹介するのが仕事……と長年思っている。
それでも人生は不思議なもので、子供の頃から人一倍、食い意地の張っていた僕は、音楽取材の合間に現地の人気レストランを訪れたり、料理教室に通ったり、友人宅で奥様の手料理をいただいてきた。すると、料理についての原稿を書き、続いて中東料理のレシピ本や各国料理のエッセイ本を出すことになった。そして、いつのまにか、美味いもの食べ歩きは僕のライフワークとなっていた。

これまでは双葉社のウェブマガジン「Tabilista」に毎月二回ペースで料理エッセイを書いてきた。そこから、2020年には僕の10冊目の単行本「美味すぎる！世界グルメ巡礼」が生まれた。

出会いあれば、別れもあるのがフリーランス人生。7年ほど続いた「Tabilista」は不採算のため、今年頭であっけなく閉鎖されてしまった。すると、ここから先は誰に頼まれなくても自分のペースで書き続けるしかなくなった。

ちなみに2022年には７カ国を訪れたが、既に「Tabilista」に記事を発表していたのは料理仲間のザ・ハーブスメンの四人で訪れたトルコ・イスタンブル＆アラチャトゥの記事10本だけだった。

トルコ東南部のユネスコが選ぶ美食の町ガジアンテップ、10数年ぶりに訪れたバリ島の変わりざま、古都クラクフとポーランドのナチュラルワイン、マレーシアのグルメの町ペナン、初めて訪れたスペイン・ガリシアの海の幸などなど、まだ書いていないネタが自分の中でメラメラと燃え盛っているのだ。

そこで月次だが、こちらnoteを新たなプラットフォームとして、できれば月二回ペース（忙しい時は月イチ……って最初から弱気でどうする？）で、僕が「美味い、美味すぎる！」と唸った世界各国のグルメレポートを再始動したい。

30年近く、原稿を書くことで日銭を稼いできた僕が、原稿料が生じない、誰からも頼まれていない原稿を定期的に書き続けることなんて出来るだろうか、すぐに飽きたりしないだろうかと、今から不安ではある。しかし、まあ、自分のウェブサイトやSNS投稿は誰に頼まれていなくても続けてこれたのだから、ときにはブランクが空くかもしれないが、まあとりあえず始めてみよう。

というわけで、まずは2022年６月に訪れたポーランド・クラクフ編から始めます。

My main job is as a world music critic and radio DJ. I travel to music festivals around the world, discover interesting music artists, and introduce them to Japan. That's what I've been doing for many years.

However, life is a strange thing, and even though I was always very stubborn about food since I was a child, I started visiting popular local restaurants during music coverage, attending cooking classes, and eating homemade dishes at friends' houses. As a result, I started writing articles about cooking and ended up publishing a recipe book for Middle Eastern and international cuisine. Before I knew it, exploring delicious food had become my life's work.

I've been writing cooking essays twice a month for the online magazine "Tabilista" by Futabasha so far. From there, in 2020, my 10th book "Delicious! World Gourmet Pilgrimage" was born.

As a freelancer, there are meetings and farewells. "Tabilista," which had been going on for about 7 years, was closed at the beginning of this year due to its unprofitability. From now on, I have to keep writing at my own pace, even if no one asks me to.

By the way, I visited 7 countries in 2022, but only wrote 10 articles about Turkey Istanbul and Arachato that I visited with the cooking group The Herbsmen.

There are still many topics that I haven't written about, such as Gaziantep, the UNESCO-designated gourmet town in southeastern Turkey, Bali Island that I visited after more than ten years, natural wine in Krakow and Poland, gourmet town Penang in Malaysia, and seafood from Galicia, Spain, which I visited for the first time.

So, although it will be monthly, I want to restart my world gourmet reports that made me say "delicious, too delicious!" on this new platform, Note, preferably twice a month (if I'm busy, maybe once a month...but why be so weak from the beginning?). I've been earning a living by writing articles for almost 30 years, but I'm a bit anxious about whether I can continue to write regularly without any manuscript fees or requests from anyone. However, since I have been able to continue my own website and SNS posts without being asked by anyone, I will try to start, even if there may be gaps in between. So, let's start with the Krakow, Poland edition that I visited in June 2022.
