昔、あるところに、爺と婆がいた。

爺は山で柴を刈っていた。
「さて、そろそろ昼飯にしようか」

爺が湧き水で手を洗うと、たくさん泡が出てきた。

そして、爺の手はとてもきれいになった。
妙なこともあるものだ、と爺は思った。

この湧き水は谷に流れ、川になっていた。

婆は川で洗濯をしていた。
そこへ川上から泡が流れてきた。

その泡で洗うと着物がきれいになった。
妙なこともあるものだ、と婆は思った。

夕方、家に帰った爺の背中を婆が洗った。
すると、爺の背中からたくさん泡が出てきた。

そして泡から産声がして、赤ん坊があらわれた。

ふたりは驚いた。
「これはまた、妙なことがあるものだ」

でも、ふたりとも子どもが欲しかったので大喜び。
女の子だったので、泡姫と名づけた。

やがて、泡姫は美しい少女に育った。

美しいだけでなく、とても清潔好きだった。
泡姫が爺と婆の背中を洗うと、たくさんの泡が出た。

きれいになるだけでなく、気持ちよかった。
そのせいか爺も婆も若返ったように見えた。

これが村の評判となり、隣村でも噂された。

泡姫に洗ってもらおうと、若者が詰めかけた。
やさしい泡姫は、皆の背中を洗ってやった。

爺と婆は、お礼に野菜や米をもらった。

さらに、噂は若い殿様の知るところとなった。
城に招かれ、泡姫は殿様の背中を洗った。

泡に包まれ、殿様は大いなる幸せを感じた。
と、殿様の背中から赤ん坊があらわれた。

殿様に顔がそっくりな男の子だった。

「あっぱれ。でかしたぞ」
殿様は喜び、そのまま泡姫を正室とした。

赤ん坊は泡太郎と命名され、やがて世継ぎとなった。

まさに泡のような昔々の話である。
めでたし、めでたし。

Princess Bubble

There used to be an old man and an old woman in one place.

The old man was mowing firewood in the mountain.
"Well, I hope to go for lunch."

When the old man washed his hands with spring water,
a lot of bubbles came out.

And the old man's hand became very beautiful.
He thought it was something strange.

This spring flowed into the valley and became a river.

The old woman was washing in the river.
Bubbles were flowing from there to the river.

When she washed the kimono with the bubbles,
it was cleaned.

The old woman thought that something was strange.

In the evening,
the old woman washed the back of the old man who came home.

Then, a lot of bubbles came out of the old man's back.

And they heard a cry from the bubbles and the baby appeared.

The two were surprised.
"This is also something strange."

But both of them were delighted because they wanted a child.
Being a girl, they named her a Princess Bubble.

Before long, Princess Bubble grew up to be a beautiful girl.

She was not only beautiful but also very clean.

When Princess Bubble was washing
the back of an old man and an old woman,
a lot of bubbles came out.

Not only it became beautiful, but it felt good.

Because of that,
it seemed that the old man and the old woman had revived.

This became a reputation of the village,
and it was rumored in the next village.

Young people packed in to get Princess Bubble to wash it.
Gentle Princess Bubble did a wash of everyone's back.

The old man and the old woman were given vegetables
and rice for thanks.

Furthermore, the rumor came to be known to the young king.
Invited to the castle, Princess Bubble washed the king's back.

Wrapped in bubbles, the king felt great happiness.
And a baby appeared from the back of the king.

It was a boy whose face was exactly like the king.

"It's a big deal. You did well."
The king was delighted and made Princess Bubble his wife.

The baby was named Awataro
and eventually became a successor.

It's just an old-fashioned story like bubbles.
Everyone lived happily ever after.
