昼休みの教室。

同級生のクニオ君が僕の肩を叩いた。
「ちょっといいかな」

そのまま僕の隣の席に腰かける。

返事は必要ない。
クニオ君は普通の少年ではないから。

彼は他人の意識を意識できる。
つまり、人の心を読む超能力者なのだ。

大人びているから、とても同級生とは思えない。

「じつは最近、能力がアップしたんだよ」
「ふーん」

「人の無意識の領域まで意識できるようになった」
「ほほー」

「さすがだね、君。
　あんまり驚いていない」

クニオ君の笑顔は素敵だ。
ちょっと照れくさそうな表情になる。

「それでね、君の無意識はすごいんだよ」

僕には返事のしようがない。

「君は当然ながら意識してないはずだけど
　君の内に潜在する無意識に比べるとね」

クニオ君はまわりを見渡す。

「同級生とか先生とか誰でもそうだけど
　他の人の無意識は全然つまらないよ」

そのまま素直に信じていいものかどうか
僕には判断できない。

なんにせよ複雑な気分。

そんな僕の意識を意識しているのか
クニオ君は僕の目をじっと見つめている。

それにしても　
クニオ君の意識と無意識の領域の区別は　
いったいどうなっているのだろう。

あの素敵な笑顔を見せながら
すぐにクニオ君は隣の席を立った。

「それだけ」

僕は黙ってうなずいた。

クニオ君が彼の席に着く前に　
午後の始業チャイムが鳴り始めた。

Classmate Kunio struck my shoulder.
"Can you give me some of your time?"

He sits on the seat next to me.

No reply is necessary.
Because Kunio is not an ordinary boy.

He can be aware of the consciousness of others.

In other words,
he is a psychic who reads a person's heart.

I don't think he's my classmate because he's grown up.

“In fact, my ability has improved recently.”
"Hmm."

“I have become conscious
of the unconscious areas of people.”

"Hmm."

“That ’s right, you.
You are not so surprised."

Kunio ’s smile is wonderful.
It looks a little shy.

“That's why your unconsciousness is amazing.”

I can't answer.

“You shouldn't be conscious of course,
but compared to the unconscious potential in you.”

Kunio looks around.

“Everyone is like a classmate or teacher,
but the unconsciousness of others is not boring at all.”

I can't judge whether or not I can believe it.

Anyway, I feel complicated.

Kunio is staring at my eyes as to whether
I'm aware of such consciousness.

Even so, what is the difference between
Kunio's conscious and unconscious territory?

Kunio stood next door, showing that lovely smile.

"That's all."

I nodded silently.

The afternoon opening chime began to ring
before Kunio took his seat.
