長女は花壇に植えて失敗したから
次女は鉢植えで育てることにした。

花壇育ちは世間ずれして手に余る。

ペチャクチャお喋りでうるさい。
今どきの派手な花を無闇に咲かせる。

そのうち、こっそり根を抜いて
辺りを歩きまわったりする。

ろくでもない野草どもと付き合う。

こうなってはおしまいだ。

その点、鉢植えなら心配ない。
なにかと世話は掛かるが覚悟の上だ。

おかげで次女は素直に育っている。
やや背丈は低いが、鉢植えだから仕方ない。

いたって無口、大人しい性格。

流行を追うでなく
目立たない地味な花を少しだけつける。

ちょっと風が吹くと
いかにも頼りなげに揺れる。

そんな鉢植えの娘の姿を眺めていると
なんとなく心がなごむ。

こうしていつまでも
ベランダに飾っておくつもりだ。

どこにもやらず
そのうち枯れてしまうまで。

my heart sometimes gathers up.
