かなり前の、年初めて煎茶の稽古だったと記憶している。
呉偉業(ごいぎょう／号を梅村)の詩にふれたときのこと。

I remember that it was the first time I practiced sencha a long time ago. It was when I touched on the poem of Wu Weiye (Goigyo / Baison).

寒いときは、渋さに少し苦味がきいた玉露があう。そんな思いを抱きながらー。
初稽古の日の床の間には、お軸いっぱいに墨で画かれた松が躍っていた。
松は樹皮に覆われ、その姿が天に昇るように見えるから、中国では龍に例えられている。日本では松とあわせ竹・梅とお祝い事の代名詞である。

When it's cold, there is gyokuro with a bitter taste in the astringency. l had such a feeling. Between the alcove on the day of the first lesson, pine trees painted in ink were flying all over the axis.
The pine tree is covered with bark and looks like it rises to the sky, so it is likened to a dragon in China. In Japan, it is synonymous with bamboo and plum blossoms along with pine trees.

お軸の隣のボードには、その夜の勉強の題目になる漢詩が書かれていた。この漢詩(下記&写真)は、滅亡した明の時代から清朝の時代の皇帝に仕えた高官で詩人の呉偉業という人の作品である。

On the board next to the axis, Chinese poetry, which was the subject of studying that night, was written. This Chinese poetry (below & photo) is the work of a high-ranking poet Wu Weiye who served the emperor from the Ming dynasty to the Qing dynasty. 

呉偉業は、詩人として天下にその名を馳せていた。36歳の時、明は滅亡し、清朝に仕えることを余儀なくされた。中国の伝統的な考えでは二つの朝廷に仕えることは大変な軽蔑の対象となった。これが彼の一生の悔いとなり、以後明朝の滅亡を悼む詩を作り続けた。

Wu Weiye was famous as a poet in the world. At the age of 36, Ming was destroyed and he was forced to serve the Qing dynasty. In traditional Chinese thinking, serving two imperial courts has been a subject of great contempt. This became his lifelong regret, and he continued to write poems to mourn the fall of the Ming dynasty.

そのときの、呉偉業の心境を綴った「梅村」という詩である。

It is a poem called "Umemura" that describes the feelings of Wu Weiye at that time.

枳籬茅舎掩蒼苔　　　
乞竹分花手自栽　　　
不好詣人貪客過　　　
慣遅作答愛書来　　　
閑窓聴雨攤詩巻　　　
独樹看雲上嘯台　　　
桑落酒香盧橘美　　　
釣船斜繋草堂開　　　

カラタチの垣、茅葺きの家は青い苔に掩われている。
竹をもらい、花を株分けして自分で植えた。
人を訪問するのは嫌いだが、人が尋ねてくれば大喜び、
返事を出すのは遅いのに手紙をもらうのは大好きだ。
静かな窓辺で雨の音を聴きながら、
詩集をひろげ、ポツンと立っている木にかかる雲を眺めながら高台に上る。
桑落酒（桑の実の落ちる頃醸した名酒）は芳しく、美味しい。
釣船が斜めに繋がれたところに、草堂の門が開かれている。

この訳から呉偉業が高官をやめ隠棲したところの住まいの雰囲気が伝わってくる。どことなく寂しさがにじみ出ている詩のように思える。
この詩の中に、竹をもらい、花を株分け、とある。花は梅であろう。そうすると松があるはず。木にかかる雲を、という木が松のことになる。この時代から松竹梅という三セットが登場している。ただ、この情景からの松竹梅はお祝い事ではない。逆に寂しい情感の中で表現されている。
それが今は、お祝い事や神聖なものの代名詞になっている。その変遷の経緯はわからない。

From this translation, the atmosphere of the residence where Wu Weiye quit high-ranking officials and retired is conveyed. It seems like a poem that somehow exudes loneliness. In this poem, it says that you should get bamboo and divide the flowers. The flowers will be plums. Then there should be pine trees. A tree called a cloud over a tree is a pine tree. From this era, three sets called Shochikubai have appeared. However, Shochikubai from this scene is not a celebration. On the contrary, it is expressed in a lonely feeling. It is now synonymous with celebrations and sacred things. I don't know how it changed.

さて、稽古はじめに「松竹梅」が登場した。
宗匠がもう一つのこの漢詩を稽古の題材にしたのは訳があった。それは、その日の朝の新聞一面に細川元総理、都知事選挙に立候補表明、という大きな見出しが躍っていた。
佃宗匠は、細川元総理とは煎茶仲間である。細川元総理が隠棲を解いて政界に打って出たことへの讃なのか、いや警笛を鳴らそうとしているのか、私には読み取れなかった。

By the way, "Shochikubai" appeared at the beginning of the lesson. There was a reason why the sect master used this Chinese poetry as the subject of practice. There was a big headline on the front page of the newspaper that morning that former Prime Minister Hosokawa announced his candidacy for the Tokyo Governor's election. Tsukuda Sect is a sencha companion with former Prime Minister Hosokawa. I couldn't read whether it was a tribute to former Prime Minister Hosokawa's release of his retreat and hitting politics, or whether he was trying to honk.

玉露の味が、一煎、二煎、三煎と微妙に変わっていった。

The taste of gyokuro changed slightly to one, two, and three.
